Hi there, I just heard about a Spanish movie called [Rec] that is supposed to be one of the best horror movies ever, however as it's a Spanish film it's obviously in Spanish.

Just putting on subs is not something I'd be interested in but I see that there is an English dub of this movie somewhere.

Where can I find it legally?

edit: it's on Amazon.COM on demand but you have to be in the US to use it

You could always just watch the American remake, Quarantine. It's pretty much exactly the same. But I strongly recommend watching Rec with the subs, unless you're dyslexic or have an equally good reason for not doing so. It's the only good horror movie that's been out in several years.

Just watch it with the subtitles!! in its original form. Don't be lazy, unless you have a problem with words as mentioned above.

To me, it's just being lazy, go watch the remake if you want English...

Dubbed versions are invariably awful.

Either watch the subbed version, or watch Quarantine which is an almost shot-for-shot remake (although massively inferior).

Can't stand dubbed versions of films.

You're missing out on so much by not watching subtitled films.

[REC] is hardly that talky anyway, it's not like a film where you'll have to pay serious attention to every piece of dialog. I'm with the others and say just watch the American remake if you want it in English.

I cant stand dubbed versions of movies.

i bought the French movie District 13 - and had to select the original French track seperately!

(Rec) is truley one of the best horrors i have seen in long time. A dubbed version would be stupid!

True. Even when they are dubbed by the original actors, they usually can't act as well in English as they can their native language. Plus I think they give a better performance when they are filming it properly, on set and in costume.

Do yourself a favour and watch it with subtitles.

I'd agree with others, if you want to watch it in English just watch Quarantine, they do a reasonable enough job in closely recreating it, and it'll defintely be better than any dub, but the original is the best. Manuela Velasco is really good in the lead role.

I'm going to forget for a moment that all you judgementalists have ignored the OPs question. Personally, I usually watch foreign horror films in the original language with english subs, but I wouldn't for one second slag anyone off for wanting to not do this.
Many folk find it difficult to concentrate on the visual nuances of a film and read subs at the same time, many others simply can't read the text due to short sightedness. And to the OP, please believe that I'm not patronising you by saying this.

However.....

In this case I have to agree... go with the subs. The english dub is available on the DVD ( and on certain torrent sites), but it's truly awful. It's badly done to chinese kung fu movie proportions, and actually detracts from the enjoyment of the film.

Sorry I can't be more positive for you.

Peace out

You're right, we shouldn't jump to conclusions with the OP, having said that I know from experience there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of people who simply refuse to watch a foreign films because of subs - which is an absolute travesty IMO. They're missing out on so much good stuff.

In regards to [REC], avoid the dubbed version and try the subs. Conversation in the film is fairly sporadic and so it's not that taxing.

I for one did say unless you have actual problems. From what I've seen, most of the time it's because they can't be bothered. Like Lil Lexie said, these people are missing out on a whole world of films because they can't be arsed to watch something with subtitles, rather miss out on a good film.

Like I and others have said before [REC] isn't even all that dialog heavy, It's probably one of the easiest subtitled watches around.

Unless you have a medical condition there really isn't much excuse, just my opinion though.
