Are Jedward starting to dominate all the online polls?

Just looking at the "Favourite Act" poll up top. Jedward now EASILY in the lead with 21%. Think that's an improvement over last week when they were about 18%? Their strength on here seems to be strengthening, not waning.

Anyone know of any other online X Factor polls around? Just wondering if this dominance is universal.

Are Jedward becoming an unstoppable force?

Dont take much from those polls, however that voting of 10,000 had them in second place with 30 per cent of the vote, with Danyl having 35 per cent that is one hell of a lead from the others, so yes I think they are dominating and the bookies are feeling that way as well it would seem.

Not really. In a lot of other polls I've seen they've been closer to the bottom. I think it's very close between all the acts this year!

Close to bottom on this one - http://www.xfactor.tellymix.co.uk/#polls - Joe is top

I saw one the other day, Yahoo maybe, that had 78% not wanting J&E to win the X Factor.

You know the thing that discounts them being anywhere near the bottom are the bookies right now, as they are shortening the odds hourly it would seem, which would indicate to me that an awful lot of people are not only betting on them to win, but are voting for them as well.

I would say they are not all close either, just do not see that myself, I think you have two front runners out there right now (and that can all change very quickly as well) and one of those acts is Jedward as I said in my opinion.

There's a thread on this forum that asks you to rank your fave to least fave X Factor contestant and assign points accordingly I've been putting the data into Excel week by week as it gives an overall idea of popularity (takes into account how much they are both liked and disliked, and so who people may vote for if their fave goes out/they split votes). From this graph, I can confirm that J&E's popularity has increased every week Before the first live show, they were pretty much universally loathed on here but every week they have gained at least 1% in popularity, which is a lot compared to some of the others who either lost popularity (Lloyd) or remained the same (Jamie and Stacey).

Here are my figures for ya:

Week 1 (between bootcamp and Live show): 2.04% points
Week 2: 6.22%
Week 3: 7.65%
Week 4: 9.00%
Week 5: 9.85% - ongoing though

I think positive polls are the better judge though. It's not a vote to evict, after all. Obviously J&E have alot of haters, but would they bother to vote for the other act if Jedward make the final?

Good. Simon choosing Lloyd to stay over Rachel last weekend sent the message that X-factor is not about how well a contestant can sing.

Twins FTW.

Interesting, but it's hard to judge how accurate it is with just 270 votes - although admittedly our poll is only just over 600 votes.

We could do with a poll with a few thousand votes and no ability to multi-vote. Not sure if one exists though.

One thing, how many people do you think of the 13.5 million who watched on Saturday night go and press a poll on the internet? As sorry how many of them even know they are there, as until you put up that link I had not seen it, or even looked for it, as I think these polls are a load of cods wallop, just my opinion.

I think an awful lot of viewers who vote are not also sitting on the internet pressing buttons on polls, and dare I say this I think the majority who do poll on them are under 25. Which is why Joe is topping that one I expect, as sadly I do not think he is anywhere near the top of the voting figures right now.

Yeah, like I say, these polls are only small numbers of people, so it's hard to judge accuracy.

Polls are two a penny are they not, and in places where some people dont go or even look. Some voters are not on the internet either as you say only 600 here which is hardly a large number.

The biggest indicator so far is the 10,000 who voted using free to call and they were actual voters. And the indicators coming out of that had Lloyd and Rachel in the bottom which kinda says a lot about it being close to accurate for the rest.

For it to go to the public vote they have to have 2 votes a piece, so in that respect Simon did choose Lloyd.

Polls can be so easily influenced depending on the question and how its phrased for example:

1) Who is the best singer on the show DANYL
2) Who do you like best on the show JEDWARD
3) Who entertained you most JEDWARD
4) Whose records would u buy ....nobody

But that wouldn't help as you can multi-vote for real on the X-Factor. They may well have fewer supporters than other acts, but if their supporters are more inclined to vote multiple times then it doesn't matter.

Some say the X-Factor is a talent competition.
Some say the X-Factor is a popularity contest.
All I know is that the winner of the X-Factor is the person who gets the most votes - and that is not necessarily the same as having the most voters.

Leon and Rhydian are a case in point. Leon won on the night with the most votes but when it came to hard cash sales after all the hype had died down, Rhydian sold the most.

True, to an extent, but multi voting on online polls is of course, free.

AOL had a poll last week with 84% not wanting them to win and thousands voted in that one and Daily Star just did one with 85% hoping they leave soon. I know the voting is not negative in the show but what this tells me is that when it comes to a Final if the twins are still there, by some miracle, people are more likely to vote for the other acts. Maybe this is Cowell's masterplan? Get them to the Final so that the real Chosen One has a guaranteed easier victory.

Well "Who's your favourite act?" or "Who would you like to win X Factor?" would be fine for me.

Yes they would, this is why J & E wont ever win. They have lots of people that don't like them but atm there's too many acts to vote for, so any vote is split or more likely many just don't vote (I think it's a fact that most of the voting is done in the final), where as lots of J & E fans will so they are safe every week. When it's narrowed down to a final 3 people finally pick up the phone and vote knowing their vote will really count.

They'll never have a huge lead in the online polls as there is a lot of hostility to them, and people saying "this is a singing competition".

They could win the show though if they got around 25% of the public behind them.

I'm not convinced they would, they'd just switch off. Why waste money voting for an act you don't much care about, just cause you hate the other act? I'm not really convinced the motivation is strong enough, least not in large numbers. Sure a few nutters would bother, but a mass hate vote? Doubt it.

Is that all they need 25 per cent of the vote? I think this is going to come down to who has them as second fav, as when their own act leaves they may vote for J&E well that is my take on it. The moment my fav goes the twins will pick up my vote that much is definate as they are my second fav as the rest leave me bored to tears each week.
