I seriously doubt that the majority of people are betting because they like them - as has been said before the majority of people who bet are unlikely to be J&E fans. They have just cottoned on to the fact that given the furore about the twins they could win (though of course the people who would really benefit would be those who placed a bet much earlier when their odds were lower) I think a lot of forumites misunderstand the nature of betting and odds - they are not some kind of prophecy of who is going to win, just a reflection of the money being placed ...

Yes and the bookies have been totally wrong on shows like this in the past.

I wouldn't bet at the current odds. I wish I had a flutter when they were 50-1, I was tempted to put a fiver on them when they were at those high odds but I have tried to stay away from the betting scene so I didn't.... ahh well.

I have a question about bookies. If J+E got to the final, and the bookies were facing a massive payout, would the bookies themselves organise a mass vote for someone they could afford to pay out on instead?

Bookies still have a certain stigma attached to them but it couldn't be further from the truth, so no they won't rig the result by voting '0000's of times.

It's a popular betting market for them, but the chances of a bookie running up a business threatening liability on X-Factor is extremely unlikely and whatever liability they don't want to take on then they'll hedge - Simple as that really, they know what they're doing.

Bookies don't like to lose of course, but sometimes losing can be good for business. If Jedward do win then they'll make the money back in press coverage etc, you can almost guarantee that in every press clipping that mentions Jedward you'll also see someone like Nick Weinberg of Ladbrokes mentioned in the same paragraph.

If you are keen to follow what the bookies say, or find out if the're sweating or not then they post videos on WhatTheBookiesSay.com each week re x-factor & SCD.

I hope this was of some use...

I will make a prediction and I don't normally that they will win xfactor.
