Sounds like pure guesswork and complete over-reaction to me. I don't see why Orange's T&C's should be seen as any different to O2's with regards to inappropriate data use. Afterall the O2 T&C's in theory outlaw streaming of any kind - regardless of whether it is provided by themselves or not. It's just there to stop people taking the complete michael.

I would never go with Orange anyway because their coverage is terrible around here, customer service is useless and they have stupid restrictions on data. I have read somewhere else that Orange has responded saying they will allow people to use Facebook and Twitter etc and the 750MB cap is more of a guideline. I average about 50MB a month at the moment, so it would take some going to get up to 750MB even on 3G.

I take it you missed the multi-page thread discussing this?
Seems like everyone is going off guesswork at the moment and there is a lot of assumption going around that Orange are for some reason going to be more restrictive than O2, based purely on this bit of the T&C's. If you took the O2 T&C's as literally as the Orange ones then O2s would be worse! The proof will be in the pudding and until people start using the iPhone on Orange in earnest we won't really know for certain how rigidly Orange will be intending to enforce their T&C's. I strongly suspect that it is there purely as a safety measure (just as O2's equivalent is) to prevent excessive use and that regular users won't be affected one bit. |

It is a bit silly on a device that is centred around network services than any other out there. I'm sure in the next few days we will see a backtracking and clarification on this.
Orange for me don't have 3G in the local area so that's ruled them out. Added to that the 50p saving I'd make moving to them, it's not really worth it. |
