Advice sought on replacement stand for Samsung 6 series LCD
I've just bought a lovely TV - the Samsung 40" 6-series and thought that a nice new TV unit for it would be just the ticket. So I measured the set, trundled off to Ikea (45 miles each way
) and picked the Expedit unit. All the measurments seemed OK in the store demo unit.Get the thing home, build it, then discover my TV is approx 10 mm or so too tall for the TV hole in the unit. Now i'm not about to dismantle the unit and drive it back to Ikea, so I'm looking for solutions: So far I've come up with: 1) Hack the TV shelf out of the unit and place the TV on the one below. Not an option!! 2) Get a replacement stand for the Samsung which is a little shorter. 4mysamsung apparently do one but it's £80 which is wayyyy too expensive for what is essentally a base and a stump! Plus they have no pictures on their excuse for a website so that's a sale lost there anyway. 3) Use a wall mount bracket on the back of the TV unit. This is looking the preferred option however I don't want to make the unit too top heavy as it has to be freestanding, not wall mounted as I'm in rented accommodation and don't really want to put holes in my Landlord's wall! So - does anyone know anywhere else that does generic table-top LCD stands that will fit my new gogglebox? I've seen a few around but they cost more than the TV unit did (£120) which for a few bits of metal seems a little excessive. I was hoping to spend no more than £30-40 on one. Thanks! |
