...Ruth doing Purple Rain and Simon continually ogling her....

...JLS and their stupid colour-coding....

...Diana's screechy performances that needed subtitles, and the one where she appeared randomly on a swing...

...Austin crying all the time, though also actually if we're honest being quite a good singer...

...Laura lying on a fluffy rug and wailing incomprehensibly...

... Eggnog-- just existing, plus the weekly outrage as he got through, and when he ran on stage in tears when Diana went out...

... Laryngitis/bonfire night-gate....

...Alexandra doing Listen, Toxic, and Candyman....

...The chubby one from JLS saying 'merry christmas'....

...Scott being hilariously sulky before disappearing back into obscurity...

And this year we get a raft of reasonably pleasant karaoke singers and some VIRGINAL teenagers getting crucified by the press, to a backdrop of drugged-up celebrity guests and a bloodthirsty, chavvy lynch-mob masquerading as an audience.

I miss last series!!!

(sorry this was a pointless thread, just wanted to vent )

The bit in bold made me LOL

I long for the innocence I had in previous series, when I never read the gutter press and had no clue in the world Digital Spy existed!

See, I loved Diana, felt sorry for her when she was ill, and had no idea about something to do with a bonfire? Could someone enlighten me?

Good thread OP.

Well she wasn't able to sing on Saturday because she allegedly had this horrific throat infection and couldn't talk, had to communicate through notes etc etc, but then on Xtra Factor they showed a video of her just days before at Bonfire Night holding a sparkler, running around and squealing with glee. Epic fail.

So, so funny! I'd forgotten about that *off to youtube*

Great thread OP. This series really has been a stinker in terms of talent. Couldn't stand the live audience auditions either.

There was an uproar last year when Diana was too ill to perform on the show but there was a clip of them all having fun at a bonfire/fireworks display a few days before the show and Diana was clearly heard screaming in delight.
The forum went into meltdown when FM's asking how she was too ill to perform but well enough to be screaming at a bonfire display.

I agree with the OP I really miss last years show

Thanks Quinners. I see, well, luckily for me, I never knew anything about anything.

Wish the same was true this year.

Incidentally, loving Lucie a bit more now.

Edit: Thanks lolwtf as well!

My own laugh-out-loud moments from the last series were:

- JB's classic delivery of "Merry Christmas", as per previous posts;

- A dancer doing the splits on roller skates with his backside towards the camera during Diana's "Call Me";

- Daniel Evans appearing in on stage a Mini (car not skirt) for "It's Not Unusual", and his survival in the competition generally.

The weird thing is, I can't put my finger on why the "Merry Christmas" thing was so funny. I have no idea why JB saying that in the middle of the song was so comical, it just is.

Maybe it was a similar effect to Stacey's sudden Dagenham-ese rapping during Walk this Way on the last results show.

Eoghan Quigg avoiding the bottom two week after week was the funniest bit - this forum went absolutely mental every time. And after Diana's free pass it was literally split down the middle - you were either pro- or anti- Diana, and there was no middle ground.

Either way, we were united for our love of Ruth and hatred of Eggnog.

I miss the posts about the Youtube videos subtitling Diana's 'performances' - them gave me the biggest laughs I had all year. Esp 'There Be Bunny Herbs' (everybody hurts) which up to that point had been one of my fave songs but now I can't listen to it without crying with laughter.
