Delayed response on my Humax 9200T
Up to a few weeks ago everything seemed OK with this PVR but recently it started to exhibit a delayed response to commands from the handset, which seem to be getting worse, despite changing batteries and cleaning the battery contacts in the battery chamber. For example, if I wanted to fast rewind, say at 16x, where originally I could stop it instantly by either the pause or play buttons, now it will continue rewinding and I have to resort to frantic pressing of any button that might stop the rewind (i.e - stop, pause, play), eventually it usually does obey the last command, but, as I say, only after a delay. Interestingly, last night, quite by chance, I seem to have found a way of marginally improving things. By holding the remote at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. Instead of firing the IR beam directly at the box, I tilt the front upwards so that the sloping underside of the IR window is facing the recorder. Why this should suddenly come about is a mystery, so I'm wondering if anyone has the answer.

I'm not sure whether there's been any software updates of late maybe?

I get that as well, only occasionally though.

Mine has been like this for a couple of months now. The recent November retune has made it worse. The 9150 and 9300 are having issues too. They can’t handle something.
I found deleting some channels worked (for a while) after performing a reset and retune. |

In the short term you may just have to put up with it.
The best thing to do is inform Humax. They are aware of the issue as far as im aware. The more complaints they get about it they may actually decide to fix the issue. |

I wonder, is this problem existing only on models that have been in service for a couple of years, like mine for example, or might it occur on a new machine. My 9200T was OK when new (a couple of years ago) and has been fine up to a month or so ago, so I'm wondering if it is age and use that is responsible or maybe recent retunes. As far as I am aware there has been no system updates downloaded since I bought my Humax.
I bought another (refurbished) and this one doesn't do it. The general consensus seems to be it's a post DSO problem, though there's another view that it's a V21 firmware issue. |

What makes you think Humax are aware of the problem. I sent an email to them following your suggestion which you made on the 5th of this month, it is now the 20th and I still haven't heard a word from them. So, I repeat, what makes you think they are aware of the problem, have they contacted you?

I had one for about 4 1/2 years and that was doing this a bit before the power supply died.

Some believe that it is the processing unit being overburdened by EPG updates while doing other things that is causing it, that would fit in with the lock ups that I have experienced when transferring video. Deleting all unused channels has seemed to of improved things for me but still early days yet. |
