True.

Shy and demure can be just as endearing as upbeat and bubbly.

And what Vincent did so well was tailor the dances to suit Rachel's personality. Her Waltz was so soft and tender. And who could forget that Rhumba? Even the Tango was a more subtle form of the dance and it worked perfectly.

Still, those judges gave us one of my fave youtubes ever. Still good for a laugh.

I lost a fair bit of respect for Craig last year when he gave Lisa a 10 for the Cha Cha in the final, she was overrated as a dance by the judges, and I was disappointed to see Craig overmarking her so badly. Rachel was much better (and that Rumba deserved 40).

Lisa is a LUVVIE though.

Rachel isn't.

Much better dancer though - silly Craig.

And I like Craig, and sort of adore a bit of Luvvidom, but not when it clouds the judgement.

Rachel was definately the best female not to have won. And with 27 scores of 10 it's unbelievable !

Louisa she was fab! She think she would have won last years series.

Kelly Brook would have been the greatest ever.

She was a better dancer than Alesha Dixon but wouldn't have beaten Alesha in the popularity stakes imo.

Not all of them 10s were deserved, but she is definitely the best female not to have won (though I didn't take to her as a person at the time because of what I perceived to be a lack of personality).

In addition to Rachel, I think Denise, Zoe, Emma and Kelly were all better than Lisa and they didn't win.

I think if Kelly had stayed Alesha would have won. But oh what a final that would have been!

I don't think Kelly would have beaten Alesha in the final, but a final made up of her, Matt and Alesha would have been fantastic entertainment.

She'd definitely beat her in the popularity stakes now!!

I think the SCD people should invite the lovely Kelly Brook to compete next year. I also think they should get Claudia Winkles on the dancefloor.

Think they have a marking problem with competence. If its right it gets a high mark even if its not really difficult. Most people don't get the basics looking right so some can score highly by doing so, They also have a marking issue with expectations. People who meet or exceed them get rewarded, people who more is expected of but who don't quite get there are not. They (and the producers) seem to follow the negative spin when the A+ student is performing at A- . Improving also gains marks because motion gets noticed more - the celeb who more obviously improves beyond an 8 may find it easier to get an 9 or even 10 thereafter. Difficult choreography doesn't always get a higher tariff either and as judges they are not united on whats artistically good. Riskier or novel choices win marks from Bruno and Craig but sometimes Len doesn't like them. Lisa, like Zoe 2 was more consistent at meeting their expectations and in not making mistakes. Rachel took some time to get going at full throttle and they wanted more.

Even in the consistency terms though Emma was probably at least as good as Lisa and Rachel was rarely at a lower level and just leagues ahead when she was on. Zoe 1 was better than Lisa, Kelly probably was and Louisa had moments of brilliance that Zoe didn't.

It wouldn't be fair to bring Kelly back as she's already had a considerable amount of experience of dancing in those styles which the others wouldn't have had (plus she's already come back for a Christmas Special, and she's doing the tour next year).

I think Lisa and Rachel were both really good dancers, but the only dance Rachel really wowed me on was the rumba, whereas with Lisa, i preferred more than just one (VW, quickstep, waltz, tango to name but a few) of her dances.

i don't know if that makes Lisa the better dancer, but for me, she was more enjoyable to watch.

Lisa was good, but that was about it. There have honestly been so many better females than her that didnt get the credit.

I actually liked Lisa, but the judges really overmarked her at the end with them 40's...

And also, for the record, Rachel was the best dancer of the last series, she just didnt have the warmth that the marvellous Tom had.

Interesting post. I have noticed the judges don't always seem to reward more difficult routines. Vincent's partners (including Rachel early in the run) often suffer as a result as he throws in challenging stuff. And Brendan is a much more conventional choreographer. Then again, drifting off Snowdonia for a moment, they sometimes mark very straightforward routines with obvious mistakes highly (witness James and Zoe's AS). And Lisa did continue to make plenty of mistakes, especially in her Latin, right to the end.

I'd love to see Kelly back SW3. But then all the people who only want to see slightly rubbish people with no dance experience whatsoever would be up in arms.

Oh I see ever. I thought he meant last year.

Ever - I think Zoe, Louisa & Kelly.

I'd put Lisa under all three (and Alesha of course).

Im glad someone has started a thread on this because I was sat there watching it thinking "WTF???"

Lisa is probably the most overated person to ever appear on the show. The constant favourtism she was shown by the judges when she wasn't even that good was nauseating. Her Cha Cha Cha was awful, she looked like an uncorordinated giraffe. To say it was better than Alesha's was just ridiculous as you dont need to be an expert to see it blatantly was not. How did she get 40 for it when Alesha only got late 30's for a far superior dance?

For me Rachel was 100 times better, although neither was especially endearing which is why the public didnt warm to them. Louisa, Zoe and Kelly were also much better.
