I love Joes and Stacies songs, I think that Simon should have given Jamie Purple Rain, not Danyl. Same as the Aerosmith song last week, Jamie should have sung it, not Danyl! I think that Danyl could be in trouble with that song and as for poor Jamie, being given Unchained Melody, what is Simon thinking of? I like Ollys song, twist and shout, but not sure that it would be a Olly song, we will just have to wait and see!

But my favourites songs this week is Circle of Life for Joe and Stacies, son of a preacher man by Dustry Springfield! I hope Stacie can pull it off!

Jamie's song is a bit of a risk ; I can see Louis throw the 'karaoke singer' jibe at him again.

How is Jamie going to rock that one up I wonder.

Not sure Stacey can pull that song off and dance or move a bit as Brian has said.. she will just wave her arms around, she is becoming a one trick pony in my book.

I really like Purple Rain, but it is a rock song and I just cannot understand why Simon did not give this song to Jamie, as he is the rock singer. It would have been a great song for Jamie, but Simon has given him unchained melody, which has to be the worst song for Jamie, ever! Dire, in fact!

Yep, totally! I dont know what Simons problem is with Jamie, but he picks really awful songs for him every week! He certainly is not doing him any favours giving him unchained melody!

I did not mean I dont like Purple rain I cannot abide Twist and Shout it is a song with no meaning.. and very few lyrics either, all you tend to remember is the title, bit like Purple Rain to be honest as I cannot tell you any of the lyrics to it sitting here thinking about it.

Well lets face it this is Simon we are talking about why does he ever do anything, he has changed the agenda, Danyl is now the rocker and Jamie the ballad singer it would seem.. whoopie we said change it up a bit, but not sure this was what some of us meant...

Was unchained Melody sung different in that film or just the same as the Everly Bros and Gareth Gates, hell he had a high voice so did they so where does this leave Jamie, erm... caught them in the door...

You could make a strong case for Jamie to sing Purple Rain and Danyl to sing Unchained Melody.....I'm slightly puzzled by Cowell's choices this week.

Most versions are the same with that high pitched "I neeeed your love"

Another thing, about Danyl singing Purple Rain, its needs a lot of emotion put into it, something I don't think Danyl capable of. As much as I love Ruth and her performance, if she sung it in the normal show, not the sing off, it wouldn't have been as good, it would still be great, but just not as amazing as it was.

And dont get me wrong I like Jamie as well, in fact I like both him and Danyl more than Ollie, I really have not warmed to him at all for some reason, my daughter tells me she would marry him...I was like what.. with that hair cut you must need glasses..

But a few of us have also said that Jamie should have had the best rock song last week and opened the show with it, that was what Danyl sang as well! Aerosmiths, dont wanna miss a thing!

Simon has the cheek to pick on Cheryls song choices but Simon has really been out of touch this year!

Dont shoot me down in flames but the only judge on the ball has been Louis with the twins, he has been very clever and even more so this week.

Gareth hits the high notes brilliantly and Danyl certainly can as well. He has a great range to his voice and I think he'd nail 'Unchained Melody'.

I think it is totally the wrong song for Jamie's rocky voice - and I don't like 'Purple Rain' As for Olly. Is Simon trying to turn him into a 1920s music hall type singer or something.

All poor song choices, imo

Danyl is a trained dancer and performer. Why not a fun and feel good song like 'Footloose'?

do you know that Purple Rain is classed as a soul song rather than a rock song, danyl is a soul/R&b singer he could pull it off. And i think this is what he needs to show the passion in his voice and performance.

Unchained melody would have been a better choice for Danyl, he can hit high notes I listened shocked to my seat on those on that site of his own songs.. I had no idea he could sing like that.

Just really not sure I want Purple Rain at all by anyone, sorry it has never hit me lyrically other than remember Purple Rain Purple Rain.. are there any other lyrics, hell better go and listen tomorow, whereas at least Unchained Melody has verses and choruses... PR is all chorus from what I remember of it.

Yes, you are probably right, but have they been picked by Louis or Brian Friedman? But without a doubt they have had some good songs, loud enough to be overbearing and so that you cannot hear the twins voices hardly! I would love for them to have to do a ballad and to stand still! That would be a massive shock for them wouldn't it?

Agreed, unfortunately for Jamie - that song is the kiss of death... it is viewed as an act of hubris to think you can tackle the Righteous Brothers and survive the public vote... unfairly as it's not Jamie's choice - but the voting public are rarely fair.

I think with Purple Rain, Danyl has a good shot at showing the vulnerablity his perofrmances have lacked until now and, if he pulls that off, as well as money-note(s)... then he could knock it out of the park.
