I think with Purple Rain, Danyl has a good shot at showing the vulnerablity his perofrmances have lacked until now and, if he pulls that off, as well as money-note(s)... then he could knock it out of the park.”

You better hope he does, and Jamie does or there will be an army of fans waiting to knock Simon Cowell out the park, form an orderly queue please.

Listening to it right now... and the more I do - I really think Danyl can ace this! He has the soul.

I think you're spot on.

The list should put to rest any doubts about which act Simon is really backing.

(I see that Ladbrokes now have Danyl and Jamie as the likeliest combination in the bottom two.)

Here is a U2 version of Unchained Melody - not the sweet ballad at all, a bit more raw. Interesting. Could this be the track Jamie might go down?

I love the song for Stacey and I've a hunch you'll be proven right.

I'd like to see her surprise us and use Aretha's phrasing instead of Dusty's, e.g. "The only one WHO could ever reach me..."

It's a little sexier, I think. Which is ironic because the song was first given to Aretha by Jerry Wexler, but she declined to record it due to her father being a minister. After Dusty had a big hit with the song Aretha changed her mind. When she heard Aretha's version Dusty said that she liked the phrasing better than her own.

It's better than him singing the original twee version, plus Jamie has a better voice.

John and Edward – Ghostbusters
Great choice. Fun and the song is more spoken than sang, suits them down to the ground.

Danyl Johnson – Purple Rain
Loved Ruth last year, don't enjoy Danyl this year, so prefer not to comment. Just dug out Ruth' version to remind myself how great she was!

Stacey Soloman – Son Of A Preacher Man
Horrible choice, imo

Olly Murs – Twist and Shout
Not my favourite song but suits Olly. Should be an enjoyable performance.

Jamie Archer – Unchained Melody
My favourite performance from Jamie was Hurt, so I think that he can shine with Unchained Melody.

Joe McElderry – Circle Of Life
Perfect for his voice.

J&E's was revealed some days ago and I think it's a good choice.

Thank you, Simon, Danyl and/or whoever else is responsible. I look forward to being given a horrible memory of one of my all-time favourite songs.

I think SOAPM suits Stacey's voice.

A little disappointed with Olly's song. Beatles two weeks on the trot.

If anyone was going to do Unchained Melody I wouldn't have put money on it being Jamie.

I think Joe will do a good if predictable Circle of Life.

What's :Lucie doing?

How many artists that Cowell has been involved with over the years have to do Unchained Melody????????? he used the same backing track for a few!

Um this list looks like Jamies bottom two!

I wish Cheryl had given Joe a bigger song though.

What an uninspiring list of songs with some of the usual suspects being dusted down yet again.
Twins - Ghostbusters - Louis really is very clever at picking songs that require very little singing. Should be a fun performance from Brian Friedman.
Jamie - Unchained Melody - Knew Cowell would pick this song for one of his acts though I thought it would be Danyl. I expect we might hear a slightly different version but there is not a lot you can do with it. Not a great songchoice.
Danyl - Purple Rain - My first thought was that the spoilers for Jamie and Danyl are the wrong way round. Will be hard to top Ruth's version from last year and Danyl does sometimes have trouble on the low notes but he could do well with this. I expect Cowell is hoping for a similar performance from Danyl to the much talked about one from Ruth.
Olly - Twist and Shout - Great songchoice for Olly that will have his fans pressing redial. It allows for him to do his cheek(s)y dance moves. Doesnt have to sing this that great either to get the votes.
Stacey - Son Of A Preacher Man - Good songchoice for her though still not uptempo but this song has been done that many times that it will be hard to put her own stamp on it.
Joe - Circle Of Life - Nice safe songchoice for him that will plays to his strengths. Expect plenty of vibrato too. It is not going to change my mind that he is a slightly old fashioned singer that would do better in the theatre. Cheryl will be over the top in her praise for him as per usual.

Are they the songs for Saturday?..oh dear I am disappointed.

Well Danyl wont have a YT clip come Sunday as Prince and his people are so picky re copyright.

Stacey - has the best song, should suit her.

Olly - again he'll be able to gloss over the limitations of his voice with the performance of this track, cue much hip shaking and loads of girls on stage.

Joe - a bit of snoozefest for me that song. He'll do it well I guess.

Jamie - I haven't a clue why Simon picked that, with all the songs out there. Maybe he assumes Jamies voters will lap it up. Jamie must ne thinking WTF!
