Danyl has always come across as being sensitive, slightly insecure and a bit shy. I think he takes things to heart a lot. I felt so sad seeing him sobbing on the Xtra Factor last week. Nobody should have to go through the kind of foul abuse and bullying Danyl has been getting. He's done nothing wrong. He's a normal guy with feelings, not the monster some people have made him out to be.

I have nothing but contempt for the bandwagon jumpers who latched on to the rude remarks about him being unlikeable, cocky and arrogant.

In any event,he started filling up and had tears in his eyes.Very sensitive behaviour for a 27 year old man.....he doesn't seem to respond well to criticism.

It's the price of being famous, he has seen previous series and seen the amount of press. It can't of come as that big of a surprise.

Simon Cowell didn't help matters with the 'best ever 1st audition comment' as soon as people heard that it put him off. When someone is hyped like that people do turn negative. I personally hate hype it turns me off a lot when people are telling you what you should like.

I have nothing but contempt for the bandwagon jumpers who latched onto Simon's PR ploy for him to get the sympathy vote...

Can you not even see when you are being manipulated? Shocking...

Either you accept that any response to any contestant is, to some degree or other, down to some form of manipulation and climb down of your high horse or you are as 'deluded' as you claim others are.

He didn't tell you what you should like, he gave his opinion "best ever 1st audition"

I personally can't see why that would put people off liking someone, not Danyl's fault his first audition was that good and he certainly hasn't done anything wrong. It's a stupid mentality we have in this country. We don't celebrate talent we try to destroy it. That's why our magazines and newspapers are overrun with pictures and news about people (Katie Price, Peaches Geldof, Paris Hilton et al) who are famous simply for being famous. It's the same people who knock down real talent who buy into this "I can't sing or dance but my single/ album/biography are number one" crap and then have the audacity to complain that the music charts are going downhill, the newspapers are full of z-listers and that there's nothing good left to watch on the box...Wake up Britain!

Err, no actually I don't accept that...

I have no "high horse" to climb down from dear & I am far from "deluded" as I can see Danyl for what he really is, not what Simon Cowell wants me to see...

I'd love to know the answer to this question too! I'd also love to know what flaminggalah means by seeing Danyl for what he really is? He's just a human being who happens to have a good singing voice, not some demon.

Ahhhhhhhh, you're making the postly-all-pervasive-perceptive claim?... then on that evidence of fallacy you are, indeed, my dearheart, most assuredly deluded.

Methinks your horse is rather a my little pony with a pwetty pink bow and sparkles...

I have no doubt you have a take on Danyl... which has been as subject to manipulation and spin as any other - negative or positive. There is no such thing as objectivity/objective-truth re: X Factor or any of it's RTV kith and kin!

Why should Danyl have to pay for something Simon Cowell said. It's not like Danyl held a gun against Simon's head and made him say it.

I don't like Simon Cowell much as it is. Fed up with his 'standing ovations'. He's deliberately trying to put people off Danyl, imo.

Well, he hasn't put ME and many others off. I am more supportive of Danyl than ever now. I feel he is being screwed over.

I am refering to the "damage limitation" last week, Danyl's "lost puppy" act to win the sympathy vote after being in the bottom two the previous week...

No dear, the only deluded people are those who were hoodwinked by Simon Cowell's PR campaign last week on operation get Danyl the sympathy votes...

I love My Little Pony's! Mine is a blue one & he has a blue mane & a star on his bum... No bow though

I have not really been manipulated, my judgement has been based purely on what I have seen, nothing any of the contestants or judges have said has altered my perception or opinion on any contestant..

Well if you felt sorry for Danyl last week & fell for his "lost puppy" routine, then I'm afraid you were manipulated...

LOL! It was so obvious... He was told to tone his act down & to act humble, Simon even mentioned this on the Xtra Factor...

He needed the votes so desperately last week that the old "sympathy card" was played... Some people are so gullible, it's highly amusing...
Green Goddess

Why are they gullible, due to him having a bad start to the song, you think I would be duped into giving a sympathy vote... think again. I voted and it had nothing to do with sympathy it had to do with everyone is entitled to a bad week.

Actually, taking your argument at face-value... which is tough for me because it's based on a number of fallacies but I'll give it a whirl, I think you'll find that very few (certainly on DS) were 'hoodwinked'... the vast majority of those with whom you seem intent on arguing (^^^^^^^ dear) were solid supporters of Danyl's prior to any bad/good/lacklustre/'manipulative' either way press... ergo they are making decisions based upon their perceptions of him as a performer and, whilst calibrating for the negative input from the media and also the positive, have maintained their views that he is their favourite performaer in the competition... they have resolutely NOT been manipulated within the terms of your criterion.

Any input is an act, however passive or agressive, subject to manipulation. Psychological FACT!

If Danyl really wanted to do a "lost puppy routine" he would've broken down in tears on the stage AND complained about not being able to hear the music (which he obviously couldn't when you looked at his face). He WANTED to come back fighting and to impress the judges and audience...and it all went wrong right at the beginning.

Instead he managed to keep his composure until he walked down the tunnel backstage and broke down. It was the fact that he couldn't hear the music at the beginning and started in the wrong key which tipped him over the edge. He'd already felt down after coming bottom 2 and then there was all the hateful crap in the press. A person can only take so much...and he thought that was it.
