Dame Vera Xmas No1?
I put this in the XF forum as well as it applies to both, so you're not seeing things if you've read this over there.
IMO For all that is good and British (if I can say that without upsetting the PC crowd ), I think everyone should rally behind Dame Vera for No1 for xmas.I'm far too young to remember the War personally but whenever I hear 'We'll meet again' it brings a lump to my throat when you think of the meaning. What are the alternatives? Terry Wogan! J&E (surely the Country will have tired of them by then) or the XF winner (simon will be banking on that happening, unless it's him putting up the backing for Dame Vera too ) .. or some other song that someone has hastely written to cash in on the xmas pennies. Even if you don't like 'We'll meet again' or 'White Christmas' surely you could buy it and give it to an older relative, they'll love it and we can break the XF xmas song curse

I heard this morning about it being re released and straight away thought it could do it. Maybe they could update it with strings or something like that.

When I first heard this was going to be released I really hoped & still do that it'll beat the X-Factor winner to the Christmas Number 1 spot. Much more worthy of it IMO.

Saw this on ITV News yesterday and while it would be a great story it has very little chance of coming near in sales to the X Factor winner because
1) It's hardly going to get airplay on the radio or TV Music channels. 2) The downloads would be small so it would have to get huge sales from a CD Single and no shops stock huge amounts of CD Singles anymore. Every year we get songs released that are tipped for the Christmas No1 and most of them get nowhere near the top. Look at this from 2005 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-1-battle.html Most of the contenders didn't get anywhere near. |
