There is one reason - he is angry. When he sings Purple rain tomorrow, it wont be anthemic or joyous, just like his other songs it will sound slightly shouty. I dont know why he is angry but as with many drama students, I suspect its because he can never get enough attention so is permanently seething. Nothing can be done about this...

seems that you have a few anger issues too, there is no point to this thread.
It's all conjecture.

I think his "failure" is because Simon praised him too much at the audition stage and the GBP don't like that!

He just seems to be cocky and sulky and a bit of a cry baby with a shouty voice, however this is only my humble opinion, of course.

So now his performance is criticised before he performs.................it's getting ridiculous.

I just don't rate him as a singer or performer.

Too much, too soon. Over-hyped at the start and not given chance to grow.

Shame really as he had the potential to be another Steve, Shane and Leon.

Now where is Woolworths when we need a bargain bin?

I don't see anything wrong with someone prophesying how they think someone will sing their song tomorrow but I fail to see the relevance of the "cry baby" comments.

Who is to say he's a failure? He's out there trying to do something with his life, so should at least be given credit for chasing his dreams
What is all this mean spirited nonsense?
Are you such a great succes in whatever you do?
If you are good luck to you, but something tells me your life might not be all you want it to be.

Oh, so you're a spokesman for the GDP are you?
Jesus Christ, the arrogance of some people is breathtaking.

The poster didn't proport to be a sppkesperson for the GDP. He said what that is what he thought (even using "I think"). This accusation of arrogance is as groundless as many of those made against Danyl.

It is quite strange that when I ask the question noone seems to know the answer to - why is he failing - I get a lot of anger. Instead of accusing me of 'having issues', maybe those who identify with Danyl should wonder whether they are drawn to Danyl because they are like him - angry.

I don't idnetify with Darly but maybe people didn't think that there was much merit in your question and how it was expressed?

Try not to be so angry, X Factor is now a strange little gameshow, it's taken over from Big Brother. Don't be alarmed that Danyl has fans, most are hoping he really is bisexual and he sees them whist signing his CD, falls in love and marries them. It's all a fantasy for them. Sadly real people like Danyl are involved in this fiasco of a show and get hurt.

I'd hate for anyone to psychoanalyse me when they can do capitals.

I mean, what does that say about you?

Didn't realise getting to the top 8 of a singing competition in which around 200,000 people applied to be part of counted as "failure".
Forever Awkward

The GBP don't mind that at all if they feel it is justified. The GBP are not the only ones who support the underdog but they are also not the only ones who like to cut people down to size if they feel they are ovverrated.

Its about failing to win a competition, not about failure in life, as in spending time posting on an forum, for example. On which topic, if the competition is so unimportant and trivial, why are you posting here? I hadnt realized that noone looks at these people as performers for audiences with positives and negatives but really do imagine them to be their imaginary best friends.

Lol, I like Danyl and I am the least angry person I know.
Plus, I am probably one at least, of the most reasonable Danyl fans.

I just like him. Sorry, can't help it. And whilst I don't agree he is completely failing, he does seem to be having some issues. Some are completely not his fault. The level of press and "anonymous internet" hatred is really high, considering in reality he is just a teacher from Kent! Some people seem determined to love or hate him no matter what. Also, along with Jedward, he is the act, that for some reason, has been latched onto with a level of love/hate that defies all reason. Sometimes, it really IS a bandwagon, and not one of the danyl fans or non danyl fans have failed to jump on it at some point. I include myself in that - quite often I have been sucked into the "hype" - its difficult to avoid really. And it really did all start with the "likeability factor" comments of the judges in the first show added on to Simon's praise of his first audition. "The best audition ever" comments immediately provoked argument and discussion, a fact that was nothing much to do with Danyl himself, who had just put in an audition that he wanted to do. Then we had the first show......and off we went!

Some of it is also his fault (I use the word fault lightly you understand - who knows how any one of us would react in a similar situation!) For a start, he read the press and continued using Twitter, something I understand they are advised NOT to do. It must be very confusing for him, to read such extreme views of himself. From "best ever, great voice, best of the lot" to "arrogant bully, can't sing in tune, shouts, money note only" etc etc. And I can imagine that to read people assassinating his CHARACTER rather than his SINGING/PERFORMANCE style must have made him second guess himself - I know it would me! Instead of just being himself and ignoring it, he keeps trying, too hard in my opinion, to be what everyone else seems to want him to be. A fools game, thats what that is! Especially since no-one can seem to come up with a consensus of what exactly he should be!

Some of it is Simon's fault. The comments about the first audition, attempting to big him up in the states, the ridiculous standing ovations of which he only, in my opinion as a Danyl fan, deserved the first week. Danyl CERTAINLY didnt deserve a standing ovation last week. Whatever the reason, his performance in the first half of that song was a complete mess. Simon's complete inability to be fair and reasonable in his comments - Danyl is always "the stand out performance of the night" to Simon. Erm, NO Simon. When Danyls on it, he is great, when he's not - he's, well, not!

What I think Danyl needs to do? Relax, enjoy himself, do his thing and not worry about the rest. Because at the moment, he seems needy, as if the world's going to end if he doesnt do well and everyone likes him! I personally think, if he can do that, he will become naturally more likeable to the people who sit on the fence, and it would give the truly anti-Danyl people less to talk about. And Simon needs to let him do a song or two without the big money note and the shouting - its not his natural talent as is shown in his original songs.

But after saying all that? I like the guy. When he is on the ball, I enjoy his performances and his singing voice a lot. I have never met him, so I will not and should not judge his character on what others say of him. Anyone could call me a "bully" if for some reason they didnt get on with me - wouldnt make it true! Its best to take ALL the press, both good and bad, about Danyl and Jedward with a pinch of salt. If you don't know them as people, then in reality, you have no clue what they are like. The thing to remember is, we are all drawn to different people in our lives. You will be friends with some and not with others. If I say "x is horrible", doesnt make it so. If I say "x is lovely!" doesnt make it so.

There. Slight rant over.

Now I am going back to liking Danyl. Along with the others I like this year, Olly, Jamie, Joe and more and more, Lucie.

The rest doesnt matter.
