Joe McElderry – Circle Of Life by Elton John and Tim Rice from the film The Lion King
Reply Jamie Archer – Unchained Melody by Alex North from the film Unchained
Olly Murs – Twist and Shout written by Phil Medley and Bert Russell from the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Stacey Soloman – Son Of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield from the film Pulp Fiction
Danyl Johnson – Purple Rain by Prince from the film Pu
John and Edward – Ghostbusters by Ray Parker from the film Ghostbusters

John and Edward I wonder if we will get the big white inflatable Michellin Man on the stage. I am secretly looking forward to their act!

Not sure about Stacey's song. I never liked "Son Of A Preacher Man."

Would be nice if this song choice line up is true.

oh gawd, they've gone down the obvious route, why, why why!!!

for simon to bleet on about wanting someone current, then dust off the gramaphone to unleash this drivel on us is beyond me.

I think the Stacey song choice is inspired, it will definitely suit her voice.

J&E more funny then!

Oh why, oh why, don't they show more imagination. There are hundreds of songs to choose from (but I guess they are restricted by rights). Ghost Busters, Unchained Melody - for the love of all that's civilised - no more!

Not another Purple Rain... nobody on X Factor will ever touch Ruth's version. Like Thinkfun said, Purple Rain is an "X Factor" classic. It would be nice if there were some songs that were never touched again.

Think Joe will excel with Circle of Life though I don't necessarily want him to get much further as he does nothing at all for me.

Jamie might do well with Unchained Melody - his gravelly voice might make a nice change a la the performance of "Hurt" he gave in the second week.

Olly doing another Beatles song... it's like the universe is telling me to love him! It's working, I warm to him more each week.

It's the perfect uptempo choice for Stacey I think, if only she can keep the accent in check, as much as I love it, as parts of it are "speaky-singy" - highly technical term I'm sure you'll all agree

And we all knew about J&E. Inspired choice for them, pretty much guarantees they'll be back next week, which is a shame. Not so much if it's at the expense of Lloyd, but anyone else going before them would just be an X Factor travesty!

I loved Ruth's version and whenever i hear that song i think of her BUT if anyone could do it better it's Danyl. I know the anti Danyl fan club will be like "oh no he's going to ruin it." But Danyl has got one of the best voices The X Factor has ever had. I'm looking forward to hearing him do it

That's fair enough, I'm just not a fan of Danyl's voice though I think he's talented and a great performer, so I wouldn't like to hear him attempt it.

Where the heck is their imagination? The same repeated songs year after year. It's time for Simon to move on a bit. No wonder he gets bored. The whole nation is starting to get bored with him.

Come on Simon. Branch out a bit more.

Oh I hope that Jamie is singing the song from the film Ghost.

It is a difficult song to sing - hope his throat is ok by then.

Looking forward to the Twins as always, and Stacey. Great choice for her.

Danyl and Jamie? LoL.

Really dislike the direction Simon is taking Olly, he moans constantly about people not being "current" yet for some reason Simon is obsessed with turning acts into a sort of "modern" swing act and it never works. Wasteful.

I'd love Lucie to do "Ever Ever After" by Carrie Underwood from Enchanted, it would absolutely never happen, but she'd be amazing at it I reckon.

My money is on "Colours of the Wind" by Vannessa Williams or "Reflection" by Christina!! The latter is the most likely

Ilove that song and so do many Irish now you have made me sad.

Fromn the film Ghost so sad and he will sing it well despite
his bad throat.

Purple Rain for Danyl ? Simon must have a lot of faith in him! Personally, I think it's a bad idea especially after Ruth singing it last year. I hope he succeeds and makes it his own.
Unchained Melody is one of Simon's favourites but, I'm surprised he gave it to Jamie. I agree with some of the posts on here. The song choices are pretty much of the ....same old......same old.

ooooh .... Danyl will never, ever, ever, ever beat Ruth's version!!

Danyl doing Purple Rain? The words 'car' and 'crash' spring to mind.

The twins are going to be the performance of the night I reckon.
