I loved ~Ruths version on it and I personally don't think there is anyone who will better the song. However I might be wrong.

I didn't think 'imminent disaster!' when I saw that choice but he is really going to have to pull something special out of the bag. And however he does it it's inevitably going to inspire comparisons to Ruth (and Simon must know that!).

Still, good luck to him because when it's done well that song is IMMENSE!

Interesting choice. Slightly worried for Jamie though, completely out of his comfort zone.

Danyl is not even my favourite but it's comments like this with people not even giving him a chance that will make me pick up the phone and vote for him!

They said that with the song Hurt he was brilliant.

This is one of my from fave films, Ghost, and of course the memories from Unchained Melody, Patrick Swazye will make it a hit too.

Don't worry I am sure that Simon would not have given Danyl a song he could not manage. He will be fine on the night.

I actually dont think that danyl is going to get that many comparisons to ruth. Now before I start I just want to say I love the ruth version! But what we have to remember is that the forum reaction to ruth was not representative of the general public reaction. Simon was not a huge fan unless she was singing in spanish and if you remember, after she sang purple rain simon actually told her it was a mistake and voted for her to go home! I think in his mind danyl will blow it out of the water compared to ruth, who probably didnt register very highly on his radar last year!

I think it could be a win win situation for Jamie. The song is so loved it will probably rake in a few votes itself, regardless of who is singing it. Again, sad passing of Patrick Swayze is still very raw in people's minds.

I hope Jamie - for want of a better, more original phrase - "makes it his own". I'm expecting great things from him this week if the song choices are true.

The only tracks I'm even vaguely looking forward to on Saturday are Danyl's and J&E's. Purple Rain & Ruth Lorenzo was one of the highlights of the last series. The Ghostbusters theme tune is just a fun song full stop.

But Ferris Bueller film is about 20 years old, how is that current? (or has there been a recent remake that has passed me by?)
