Not looking forward to Danyl's because I loved Ruth's version last year.
J&E will be the highlight I think!

I know I loved Ruths rendition of the song she was absolutely fantastic.

Simon was not a huge fan unless she was singing in spanish and if you remember, after she sang purple rain simon actually told her it was a mistake and voted for her to go home! I think in his mind danyl will blow it out of the water compared to ruth, who probably didnt register very highly on his radar last year!”

That's probably because he insisted she sing "unbreak my heart" in spanish in that sing-off.....

... and she put her foot down and said she'd sing "Purple rain" or nothing.

Mr Cowell doesn't like his puppets cutting the strings. I think not saving her was basically a childish tantrum on his part because she didn't do his bidding.

I thought "Unchained Melody" was done by the Righteous Brothers and used in the film "Ghost" - or is this another song??

Also I find it a bit of a cheat to use old songs that were originally not written for a film like "Son Of A Preacher Man". That song came out in the 60s and Pulp Fiction is from the 90s... Thinking like that, almost any old song has been used in a movie at least once. They should go for songs that were specifically written for a film in my opinion.

It's the same song, but it was covered in Ghost. So Wikipedia says anyway

Reflection - Christina Aguilera?

That would be a fantastic song for her voice.

Most of them are old songs - Unchained Melody is one of my favs., and I shall absolutely love listening to it again.

I might be out on Saturday. Does anyone know if Danyl's version of "Purple Rain" will be up on Youtube after the show's finished, given that Prince & his cronies have taken every cover version of his down?

Including Ruth's last year

Song change for Stacey.
She's now doing Mad World.

Lucie - This Is Me.
Lloyd - Footloose.

Footloose? seriously? I'm not going to pre-judge him but i'm very surprised at that song choice. I thought Cheryl would give him a slow song as he clearly hasn't been able to up-tempo. But hey he may surprise me. Will he be doing the dance too?!

What film is This is me from?

Based on what you've seen of Lloyd so far - shy, a bit awkward - how do you think he'll do with 'Footloose'? Honestly now?

.. it may also give Dannii the chance to take the mick out of Simon and say

"was it as good as Ruth's version?....No."

which I'm sure would annoy the hell out of him.”

Ha! She's got to do that.

Simon needlessly compared Ruth to Leona last year...

I am convinced that Cheryl has actively worked against Lloyd with the most unsuitable songchoices of any mentor in the history of the show. I know she loves Joe but could she make her preference any more noticeable.

Boy are they bending the rules there!

When you think of songs from the movies, you think of main memorable songs that are at least intimately connected and remembered from the film.

Now Ghostbusters is one such song: The song and film go hand in hand and are inseparable.

However just because they happened to play a pop song in the background does not make it from a film!

They have taken right liberties with most of those selections and yet another so-called "Themed week" is nothing of the sort!

Think Lloyd will do well with Footloose. If Chace Crawford from Gossip Girl can do it I'm sure he can! Lucie singing a ballad from a film only kids and Jonas brothers fans have seen might be a bit risky.

Another ballad for Stacey? Come on Dannii take a risk!

And Footloose? Gawd. Lloyd's school friends are going to rip the sh*t out of him. First I Kissed A Girl and now Footloose?

Camp Rock starring the Jonas Brothers! I was forced to sit through this the other week but the song is not well known. That said the lyrics suit the show [This is real. This is me. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be now. Gonna let the light shine on me etc]. Film's about a girl who has a good voice but hides it because she's poor in a rich kids world. She decides to compete in a singing competition, then gets banned but decides to sing anyway. Then the Jonas kid realises she's the girl he's been looking for. Standard kiddie crap.

Omg Footloose is a difficult song to sing too.
