Why I think Danyl should go

To be honest I am just angry with Danyl because either those who don't like him (I raise my hand here) and those who support him are getting into squabbles over him. I just wish he could go so we could get back to discussing the X-factor. He is so the Diana Vickers of this year (for me anyway).

It really drags any discussion down because if you say something against him you are lambasted and asked for proof of this that or tother.

If you support him you get all manner of comments saying he is this that or tother or why.

I believe his going would make X-factor enjoyable again because at the moment whilst he is in it it makes uncomfortable viewing because you never know what is going to happen next. I like high drama but I don't like the flair of the dramatic. It puts me off enjoying everyone else.

I posted this in another topic but then discovered it needed to be said.

This is all my opionion however...

I agree.

Plus his performances are painful to watch. I'm so upset that he will be singing Purple Rain this week. It won't be a patch on Ruth Lorenzo's performance last year.

I've been voting for J&E and will continue until Danyl has been kicked off - then i'll vote for the most talented.

I agree to an extent.

The criticism towards him is harsh but it won't go away until he goes away. Although Danyl isn't a favourite of mine it annoys me whenever i come on here and he is being slated. For example he is already being criticised for Purple Rain and he hasn't even sung it yet! I know Ruth did it brilliantly but how do you know that Danyl won't do it better?!

If he were to go i wouldn't have to spend my time on here defending him. But then again it's unfair to end someone's dreams just to stop arguments.

Yes but we've heard enough of his style to know that it will be excruciatingly awful and shouty.

So basically it's not the song choice you dislike it's him in general. Whatever he sings people won't be satisfied!

Yes - I seriously doubt he could ever win me over but endlessly playing to his weaknesses (ie overblown shouty mode) isn't going to do him any favours. Maybe it's just that he can't sing simply or with any feeling.

again in YOUR opinion, there are plenty of artists that I find painful to listen too (stand up Mike Skinner) but others think they are amazing.

I do like Danyl's voice and still feel he is the best of a bad bunch this year, would I buy his album? No idea but I disliked Alexandra last year but I really like her album now, you never know but I do agree that Danyl is this year's Diana Vickers, same arguements errupting each week, it's like deja vue although this year it's a LOT nastier. The hate on here hasn't done Diana any harm though

Also there are similar arguments raging on the music forum over Robbie W, a lot of people who don't like him reckon he can't sing, has a shouty voice etc etc, horses for courses...

To be honest I'll reserve judgemnet until I hear him sing but I don't think that I'll be championing this song or him because I really would like to feel that I am not on tenter hooks with him.

I want X-factor to be fun, I wish him success but not at th expense of my entertainment...

But that's just me.

I really am not bothered by all the slating etc that he gets, this is a media gone nuts, and everyone is falling for the hype. When X Factor is long gone Danyl will be the superstar he already is and deserves to be, worldwide, but maybe not in this country.

It's a classic Brit disease running rife - we hate winners and love losers, no wonder it's all such a mess!

Why I think Danyl should stay

Danyl is one of a very few that is talented in this competition. He deserves to go far. Simon should go if anyone.

OP not sure what your intentions were with this thread but the very thing you are complaining about regarding Danyl (as in the bickering) is posted as far as post number 2!

I don't compare him to Diana, as Diana was interesting, unique and had a spark to her. Danyl is all style and no substance and I just pick up bad vibes from him.

I can't remember what his voice sounds like so I wouldn't call it a stand-out or individual voice.
Most of the other acts are smart enough to know that part of what makes people warm to you and therefore vote for you is the presense off-stage. Danyl is one of the weakest when it comes to this.

Can't wait for him to hit the bottom two again, and so we will hopefully be saying 'BYE-BYE!'

That is the funniest thing i have heard in my life, Danyl a worldwide superstar? That will never happen.

Well in all fairness if Danyl should go then so should the twins! They cause just as much "debate" and are just as irritating!!

Again just my opinion

If you ever want evidence that teenage girls are bad judges of character - read these threads.”

Sorry but everyone bases their opinions on people on first impressions, or on any slight mannerisms they might pick up on them. That's human nature.
They don't have to follow some scientific method of determining whether they should like an act, because it is only their opinion and therefore doesn't have to be backed up with serious evidence. Like listening to your favourite song, you don't know why you like it so much but it may just be that it gives you a warm feeling inside.
God gave us instincts for a reason.

I feel the same about some of the others in the competition so does this mean they should be kicked out because I don't find them "entertaining"????

Firstly, may I state that I am not a Danyl fan, BUT I absolutely do not hate him, nor do I wish him any ill will or malice.

However, I do agree to a certain extent that the competition would be more pleasurable without him in it and I am dismayed by several of his media faux pas, PR-wise especially this week to the extent that I am beginning to wonder if Cowell has turned his interests to Olly.

The responding to Twitter and tweets, especially after the VT last week re: his breaking down over that moronic tweet regarding Hitler; a manager with a true vested interest in their act would have ordered his act to cancel their account, nay he'd have cancelled it for him.

Photos such as holding hands with another man, the perceived arrogance of pointing to his Superman tattoo - two of the biggest bones of contentions for Danyl haters are his ambivalent sexuality and his perceived arrogance/cockiness - and yet in photos ran through all the tabloids he's allowed photos of himself to be taken which only reinforce the haters' prejudices.

The song choice this week is a bad one, Purple Rain, he can't but be compared to Ruth Lorenzo last year, a far more "media likeable/friendly" contestant and her performance when she suddenly became a contender.

It just all seems that Cowell has realised his sure fire bet is no longer and is letting him subtly implode on terms of his own making within the media as Olly who has that "likeability" factor across several demographics becomes his best bet to win the whole shebang.

Again I bring up the twins, not as comparison in terms of singing/performing but as a lesson in how to maintain grace under pressure. Cockiness/arrogance/hatred all qualities centered around the twins at the start, yet they have turned things around through actively working on the characteristics the public disliked and radically changing peoples views on them. Never responding to insults, and bearing it all with stoicism, good grace and humour - however much it must have hurt like hell.

Danyl just seems to be blowing it and Cowell should be stepping in to help yet he seems disinterested now.

You come have the same shallow methods of discernment as a teenage girl.
