Yes and the most telling of all those comments is from Simon.. as that my friend is who he wants to win OLLIE... it says what I have been saying all along, Danyl is not the chosen one OLLIE is.... so for me that is the is the comment that wins the week..for the pure irony of what he also says to Danyl, his supposedly chosen one.. the public have been well and truely duped which was Simons intention all along...
Totally agree with you (I think, I've been on the pink pop, so am a bit bemuddled ), but with all this Danyl bashing he doesn't seem to mind that much. He could help him out a bit more, but doesn't. Ollie is his golden boy. Is it me or is he morphing in to Si (yuk think I may hurl )

Am I making sense

I thoroughly enjoy her repetitive comments.

I really liked Cheryl last year, she seemed genuine and sincere. This year she seems aloof, rude and uninterested in anything else but how she looks and her 'career' I think the whole show is all about the judges now and its getting really boring.

I think half the reason people are voting for the twins is because the audience are fighting back against a show that feels scripted and manipulative.

Last year I gave her the benefit of the doubt; assumed she was just nervous & couldn't really think of something original to say & she'd improve this year when she was more into the swing of things.
Turns out she really does just have nothing remotely interesting to say.

Her comments generally are dire. One turned out to be spot on though—when she warned Simon not to be so smug after Rikki was voted out, one of his acts could be in the bottom two the following week.

IMO cheryl is the worst judge this year. her song choices are pants, her comments catty and unhelpful, and it seems she's on the show to further her own career. Nothing more than attention grabbing.

Seems? That's the only reason.

They should lose her and get in someone like Pete Waterman who really does know about music. She is too busy trying to be a Posh, as in a decorative clothes horse, and has no idea on how to mentor anyone.
She will never be a 'posh'.
Posh and her husband are in a different stratesphere to her.

I dont agree! Cheryl has given Danniis girls some very constructive and helpfull criticism and Dannii even thanked her the following week when Cheryl had given Lucie some good critique the week before. I think that Simon needs to get off her back and leave her alone. He has been a right pig to her at times this year. Cheryl has done nothing wrong! As per usual, people put somebody up on a pedestal one year, only to knock them off the next.

The exact same thing happened to Dannii last year. Dannii had been flavour of the year with Simon the year before and then when Cheryl came along last year Simon was not particularly pleasant to Dannii, just as he is not being very pleasant to Cheryl now.

I think that the public need to give it a rest with Cheryl now. There is no need for it at all!
Hahaha.
She gives one good comment and suddenly that makes up for the rest of the absolute trash she comes out with?

Seriously, underneath the autotuned vocals, you are left with a "judge" who is out of her depth and has absolutely no real talent herself.
How exactly is saying "yer a little popstaaa" and "i love ye" being constructive? And she's getting paid THAT amount of money to say that?

Are Simon, Dannii and Louis out of their depth as well?

See the list of cliches from last weeks show. They all dished them out.

How exactly is saying that "was a great performance" to Lloyd the comment of a woman with fully functioning ears? And how constructive was this constructive:

"Olly, I have to say I absolutely adore you. You are hot, hot, hot and the moves get better every week. The vocals are consistently brilliant. I'm not sure about the hair but I love you."

Her comments last week to Danyl were ridiculous - she told him 'you've got it all, and you do everything well, you just don't do it for me'!! I just thought what a stupid thing to come out with, how is that constructive, what can danyl take from that and think well i can work on that this week, she is their to give helpful, constructive advice not to take digs at someone's personality - how would she feel if one of the contestants gave it back to her, took a dig at her personality or the fact she is on a singing show and can't sing herself - last year she seemed focused to do well on the show this year she is only on their for her career and that is all she is thinking about not her acts or the other acts, just herself.

People seem to be confused about what a judge does. A coach may offer advice to help someone improve. A judge does not. A judge... well, they judge! I can't recall olympic judges offering advice to the athletes.

The primary purpose of the judges is to give their opinions. They are also required to integrate this with their role as "TV Judges" and entertain the public. Getting them talking, whether good or bad. Simon Cowell didn't get to where he is today by offering constructive criticism. He did so by giving blunt and direct opinions which the viewing public found to be controversial and entertaining. If it worked for him, I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed for the others.

A 30 second slot in front of a shreiking audience on live TV is not the place for anyone to get any real advice. There simply isn't much time for the judges to do much more than pass comment and perhaps say why they didn't like it.

Simon has spent years using "the likeability factor" as a cover for just not getting it. Cheryl simply doesn't think Danyl has a hope. She's probably not wrong as he clearly isn't connecting with the public.

True. I can't recall Simon giving John and Edward any "constructive criticism," nor would I guess that they expect it. I don't understand why any one contestant should be entitled to it over the others.

It is interesting that Cheryl is the target.

As the list which I so generously provided on the previous page shows, Cheryl wasn't the worst for cliches last weekend. Ironically, it was DS forum favourite Dannii saying the things Cheryl apparently says (you're a star, I adore you, you're hot hot hot, you're a heartthrob) and Louis was probably the worst of the night (as usual!). Not saying that they shouldn't say these things, it's all part of being an X Factor judge and Dannii and Louis do their jobs well. Just interested in the selective memories we seem to have on here.

Well, seeing as this was a thread about Cheryl Cole, most people would assume that it wasn't about the other judges and their comments? Or is it just me?

But no, to answer your question, Dannii's comment to Olly wasn't constructive and yes, the cliches are just rolling out from all the judges these days, which is getting pretty boring all round.

However, I do feel that out of all the judges, Cheryl's comments are the least constructive.. and it's clear for everyone to see that she knows absolutely nothing about the singing voice, which is why her own is utterly dire and is also the reason why she doesn't even attempt to comment on anything about the voice.
& no, I don't believe the judges should be sitting talking about vocal technicalities, but as a so called "singer", one would think she might try comment on a voice itself, rather than what someone is wearing (eg. Stacey in week one).

I agree that if the judges only talked about vocal technique, not EVERYONE would understand it and it would get boring. But really, I think it's far too repititve, so it would be nice to see one of them saying something that's a little different, no?

Nah, it's not a selective memory atall, it's your total inability to realise this was a thread about CHERYL COLE and her comments.

It is funny how when you actually look at the text of what the judges say, it is often rather different to perceptions on DS.
I suppose it is, when you cherrypick to suit an agenda that fails to stand up to scrutiny.

How exactly is saying that "was a great performance" to Lloyd the comment of a woman with fully functioning ears?

How many posts are you going to base around a comment you've taken completely out of context? There's more to a "performance" than the vocal, which she in fact criticised; "I found at times your voice was drowned out by the track. I would love to hear something a bit more melodic". And to reinforce the point (even though there's really no need to); "it's the most comfortable you've been on stage". Seems the hearing issues reside elsewhere ...

One comment of little or no consequence is hardly an issue, given that everything else she had to say throughout the show was pertinent and clearly distinguished her from her colleagues.

Ironically, it was DS forum favourite Dannii saying the things Cheryl apparently says (you're a star, I adore you, you're hot hot hot, you're a heartthrob)

Just interested in the selective memories we seem to have on here.
Absolute tripe. A few pleasantries during the course of an honest appraisal is fine. But there's absolutely no comparison with consistently failing to offer any opinion whatsoever.

The irony of this comment is absolutely staggering.

They could always script her like Alesha on SCD or give her auto cue!
She always seems to be reading from a script (i.e., glancing down every three words or so), even for her "comments" and intros to her acts!

She brings that 'little princess' side to the table that everyone seems to love, she's not a brilliant observer then speaker to be honest, her teeth is annoying also (lol).

The show would be weaker without her though thats for sure - but her being allowed by "daddy Simon" to plug that terrible song for me says everything about that show.

Lets hope J&E win it - it will wreck her head, big-time lol

Tommy - How could you give J&E any constructive criticism??, everyone knows there tripe but most are voting for them because there doing it for fun or to annoy the hell out of Simon...

Lets be honest not many serious music lovers would buy any of that show's music - unless it was new & original...

Some chance of that lol
