Simon wants the twins to win - the Olly/Danyl/Joe love is just a smokescreen.
They're a relatively nondescript bunch of contestants this year and SC knows it. The twins are his best bet of making money but he can't be seen to support an act that can't sing and relies on OTT routines. However if they win he can distance himself from the 'stupidity' of the British public who voted for them to win and still reap financial benefits.

Simon's finally clocked on to the only two people who stand a chance at winning.

As a mentor to THREE acts and not just Olly I think it's wrong for him to be stating a preference. Of course, al the judges are going to have there individual opinions but they should be kept private when there's more than that person you're supposed to be supporting.

He can't want J&E to win as giving them a recording contract is ridiculous. I'm sure he wants them to stay in the show until the final, as they've created such a buzz and are great for ratings. They'll be on the tour and I'm sure he's now thinking of a way to make money out of them.
It might be that championing Ollie is a way of taking the heat off Danyl for a bit as the over hyping was ruining his chances. I can't believe Simon was backing Ollie from the start as he put him on first for three weeks running - not something you would do with a favourite. I'm not sure Si has given up on Danyl as winner just yet, but he's changing tactics.
However, all the evidence suggests that Ollie's getting the votes, so Si might have just decided to cut his losses with Danyl and focus on Olllie who has a better chance of winning. Simon does seem personally very fond of him, though Ollie's voice isn't as strong as the others in the category.
