Well we had lakeland cross he was a lovely boy, cockers can be a bit mad and need more exercise I believe so may not be ideal in a flat. Lab cross we have at the moment and she is fine but as I have said before in the thread is too heavy to carry so would be difficult if she had to be taken up or down the stairs by us.

What ever you decide get the friendliest looking dog you can - we have no problems with neighbours as ours have all looked really friendly but I know the staffie owner and the GS owners both get a fair bit of stick even though their dogs are actually soppy as anything.

As has been mentioned before, it's a ridiculous decision to have a blanket ban on potential dog owners not having access to a garden. The lack of a garden forces the owner to take the dog outside and give it a walk, which isn't always the case with a owner who has a garden, who can just shut it there for some hours on a daily basis and believe that they've given it enough exercise and mental stimulation.
