Whilst I'm not sure as to relevance the OP places on the answer to the question - one way or another (and I concede it could have dubious motivation) - I don't think it's inherently racist to ask, per se.

Although I would like to know why the OP was so keen to know that it was pressing enough for a thread-start?

How is asking someones religion racist?

The OP may have a good reason to ask. Maybe he's a Butcher with a new range of pork sausages to promote and wishes to launch an advertising campaign using an X-Factor contestant.

It might. The OP could be considering inviting him round for Sunday lunch and wondering if it's OK to have roast pork.

Actually I can't figure it at all. Please answer the question, how was the OP racist?

There is absolutely nothing wrong in taking an interest in the background of someone who has captured one's attention.

No different from watching "Who Do You Think You Are" or similar programmes.

I know this doesn't answer the original question, but have a look at this link, as he's got a Twin brother! Nothing unusual you might think, the world's full of them, but would have been great if his Twin were on the show too.

Wonder if other Twin can sing and why wasn't he on the show. xxx

I don't know but I would have thought that considering Stacey is, that there would have been some comment in the press. Although it may be that the press doesn't know.

No but neither does much of what we discuss here. It is however vaguely interesting IMO.

I always assumed he had French ancestors possibly sausage makers who came to England and used the English version of murs which is of course walls.

Walls make pork sausages so I can't imagine that they are Jewish.

Hope this helps.
