The harsh reality is that Jamie has failed to shine every week, even last week when it should have been "his week". Maybe that is Simon's fault, I do think that most of the songs he has given him have either

a) Not allowed him to let loose. Such as T-Rex and Primal Scream, two songs that he was drowned out by the backing track for the most part. Or

b) Just are uninspiring and distinctly karaoke rock such as Angel of Harlem.

Now Simon has outdone himself by giving him Unchained Melody. I already thought Jamie was on the ropes but now I definitely think he's heading for the exit sign come Sunday.

Either more tabloid nonsense for the publicity, or Jamie should stop being so naive. Everyone knows when you audition for the X Factor Cowell owns your ass for the considerable future if you are successful, bit late to be crying about it now.

Euro this is really bad, as if I read this right Jamie has a chance to tour with BJ.. then run away Jamie dont take anymore shite songs as that band will treat you far better than SC know how.. and they like you.. Sambora never makes any comments and he did.. and shut up you lot.. I have been a fan of this band for over 24 years.

So it is out then Euro.. SC has finally said who this was all about really.. OLLIE.. god my daughter will be thrilled she saw straight thru SC... next time tho honey let me in on the bet as well..

JOE sorry what another Gareth Gates Simon.. please dont do it to another 18 year old.. not nice”

You'd like anything that you thought meant a clearer pathway for the object of your obsession.

The BJ story remains to be seen. The Rachel Def Jam story is now in doubt.

The only thing wrong with Gareth is that he lost to a contestant who was better at the time and wasn't given the chance by the media to grow up and be accepted for the artist he became.

I have said it all along that the hyping of Danyl's audition and the subsequent interview on US TV was to attract attention to the show and nothing to do with the contestant himself. Why would Simon want to big up a contestant that was a twice failed auditionee and no better than he had been on those two occasions? Why would Simon continue to make overblown comments about a contestant who so many people saw as not all that if he didn't want to risk the possible backlash?

Danyl's unpopularity is nothing to do with Simon's perceived support for him. How many people turned on Leona? How did Rhydian get as far as he did? Did people turn on Alexandra when Simon started supporting her? On the contrary. How did Carrie Underwood become the most overwhelming winner of AI? How did Adam Lambert get as far as he did? Most people have no problem with Simon or any judge bigging up contestants to the skies if they feel it's justified but in Danyl's case, they haven't seen that. The audition was good but for Simon to compare it to previous auditions was pointless and to call it a "first" audition inaccurate. Danyl was shocking at bootcamp and the judges house. His first live performance remains his best and it has been downhill from there and yet Simon has continued to over-praise him. How much is the public expected to swallow? It was only a matter of time.
