"Bruce also denied he is due to retire at the end of this year's series..."

"When I decide to leave, it’ll be me who says so and I’ll make an announcement. I don’t need the newspapers informing me when my time is up, thank you very much."

Well said Bruce!

"I know by the reaction I get every Saturday and by the mail I receive how well we’re doing."

Somebody's censoring the old boy's mail.

The reaction he gets after he pauses meaningfully to let the audience know that was a joke and they're supposed to laugh? He really has lost the plot this year.

Imagine the scenario if he was taken ill during the live performance! It can happen so quickly. What would they do?

He needs to stop being selfish and give a younger person a chance.

Ahhhh Bless the old dear. I used to be, and still am, a big fan. He has never once used a swear word or any 'adult' material. He is one of the last truly family entertainers.
I don't like to see him as he is now, over the hill and taking every opportunity to have the spotlight firmly on him. I wish he had retired last year, when we could all have remembered him at the top of his game

But he was ill last year with the flu - it was his worst year presenting wise. Took him weeks to get over it.

Afaic, Brucie's right back on form now and it's good to see him not bowing to the bullying.

Tess's husband (probably) is already oiled up and ready.
Fear not.

In what way is expressing an opinion on Bruce intimidating him?

If they're getting paid by a tabloid for it?

Not pointing the finger at DS'ers. I meant the papers, sorry if that wasn't clear. Not been awake for long

I agree, he's a good old fashioned all round entertainer, I really don't see where all the Bruce hate comes from. The terrible jokes and pauses are nothing new, his performances have always included them, and there aren't many people who could hold a long show like Strictly together live and not die on their feet.

It wouldn't be the same without Bruce.

On the other hand, one could say that Strictly is sort of limping along anyway, and has since series 5. Not sure what's wrong with it, but the sparkle and glamour is somewhat dulled, it wouldn't surprise me that if Bruce did retire, Strictly might retire too.

Don't think I'd watch anymore if it were hosted by; "The Blands."
