Dmitry ???
Dmitry's foxtrot - what??? Could it be that Dmitry just can't do ballroom and has to disguise the fact with one pointless gimmick after another? Even when he and Mya were in hold in the foxtrot, it wasn't good - have they never heard of body contact?
I feel sorry for Mya. She is clearly talented, but is being totally let down by her pro partner, in exactly the same way as Leila is being let down by Anton's lack of latin ability in Strictly. And like Anton, when Len points out the obvious faults, he just stands there and smirks and lets poor Mya take the flak. |

In my completely unprofessional opinion, it didn't look like a foxtrot to me.

In my professional opinion, he's throwing this competition away!

I didn't think they were very good in hold either, I've seen a lot of people complain about Len being biased against Mya but I agree with him, Dmitry's choreography is baffling.

I don't think he's throwing anything away - I think he's just decided to go for the public vote rather than the judges, as they are basically up against Donny, who is fantastically popular.
They've been off the top of the leaderboard a few times, but have not been in the bottom two, unlike Aaron and Karina, which would suggest that sacrificing one judge's support for many public votes may be working for them. |

Lilystar, I hope you're right.
But it seems unbelievably arrogant to rely on the public who will always pick Donny over Mya! Why antagonise ANY of the judges? It is far better to have them all on your side. He may need a good mark from Len to continue and he will not get it with 'stage show' choreography. |

Well, they could be banking on Donny coming out with something shockingly awful, like Marie's showdance, in which case they might manage to beat them.
I don't really think that is the case though - I think they believe that they can beat Donny on the judges scores quite easily, but are much closer in the public's eyes, so that it where they are concentrating efforts. I'm not sure it will be enough to win the show overall, but it's working so far, as they have not been in the dance off or the bottom two. It's also possible that they are not really competing against Donny, but against Joanna and Derek for second place, in which case appealing to the public also helps. |

Voting viewers fall into 3 categories: 1. Those who vote for best dancer 2. Those who vote for their favourite personality regardless of dance talent or lack of 3. Those who vote for the underdog When all the underdogs have been eliminated, you get best dance vs best liked personality. At the moment, dance enthusiasts will frequently prefer Donny's more accurate dance routines compared to Mya's "stage dance" variety. And added to that, he is loved enough to win the "favourite personality" vote as well. And we mustn't forget Joanna..... |

I think Dmitry is using Len as a way to get votes with people esp in the States thinking it is personal where really Dmitry just is a Latin dancer and not very good as Ballroom but like Anton if he wants to win the competition he should learn the style he isn't good at. And I hate the way he smirks every time Len says anything he comes across as cocky and arrogant like he knows better or thanks for that Len!
He is a good dancer and he is a great cherographer when he wants to be - see Lacey and Danny - Samba but isn't coming across as a good teacher or partner. When he was on SYTYCD I though the same he did a latin dance with a hip hop dancer and made her look stupid and like she couldn't dance because he made it all about him and forgot to help the novice he was supposed to be dancing with. Always prefered Pasha

It's too bad, he's a good dancer and I liked him last year on the show with the Playboy Bunny girl. But he needs to look at Mya once in a while. This is really his to lose, and he's probably going to do just that. Oh well, I think a Kelly and Donny finale would be a lot of fun.

He suffers
....from a combination of an over inflated ego and an inability to choreograph intelligentlyfor different dancers. Fatal.
She is so talented and he is so up himself. I'd hate to work with him and would have to fight the temptation to slap him soundly every now and then. I can follow most choreography, but when it's totally unsuited to you you will never look your best or feel a great connection with your partner if he is responsible for the moves. I've been there. It's the pits. |

I think Dmitry is having a harder time with the adjustment to DWTS coming from SYTCD which was all about innovative choreography for people who already know how to dance.
Here is an old interview where he was training with Jewel and he sounds like a fish out of water and a bit more humble in this clip. He seems to struggle with expressing himself. He has a good dancer in Mya and it is puffing him up. His job is to highlight his celebrity, not himself I think he hasn't mastered that but he did improve this week. http://www.theinsider.com/news/17479...Stars_New_Hunk |

I'd forgotten that he was paired with Jewel in the last series. I wonder if the reason she ended up with stress fractures was that he didn't appreciate that training with a celebrity non-dancer is not the same as training with a dancer and the celebrity has to ease into it gradually and build up to training all day and every day. It's a bit much to start doing that immediately. He's fine with Mya because she was a dancer already.

Yeah, I loved their salsa and lambada.
I think their some of their earlier dances suffered because they lacked emotional connection, Cloris was right on that one. But they look closer now. Their semi final waltz was beautiful. |

Mya is probably the best hip wiggler I've ever seen!
