Tactical Voting
Will there be any by the judges tonight in an attempt to try to prevent a repetition of last week's fiasco?

I wonder if the judges will produce fewer tied scores tonight and will there be an increased use of the lower scoring paddles?

The judges biggest problem is when they open their mouths- because there is a story in the Mirror today that Len apparently made a few comments about Ricky G and Craig K on Radio 1.
Hasn't Len learned that the more you make comments that may not be viewed as complimentary the more people will vote against their chosen ones Bruno should also be keeping schtum too - he is quoted in the Sun commenting about Craig K again When will they ever learn- this is not about who they want to win |

The judges make a "show" of acknowledging that it's not just a dance competition, and then get stroppy when people vote for their favourites instead of best dancers

I expect there will be the usual anti-voter judging and pantomime judging and just plain irritating and confused judging...but without knowing the exact mechanism of how they score I'm not going to start constructing any elaborate (or not) conspiracy theories.

I've always considered the judges behaviour as much of a "performance" as what's going on out on the dance floor.
They always try to draw attention to themselves, or as you might say attempt to; "big up their part." I've said many times about their comments after some performances, that none of them are bright enough to often come out with remarks with so much "spontaneous" alliteration and onomatopoeia. It's either been scripted for them or they've been working on it during the week, waiting to use it on any couple for whom on the night they might deem it appropriate. As the old comedian Jerry Lewis once said; "You can't beat carefully rehearsed spontaneity." In the end, despite the "show" of emotion over what might be considered the wrong result, I doubt if they are really that bothered. They're really too busy enjoying the gravy train, something of which they could never have dreamt, eight years ago and hoping they won't get fired, or that it will ever end. |

Four tens made sure Ali stayed didn't it?
Rare for Craig to award a 10. Hmm... |

3 10s would still have put her top though.....the Viennese Waltz is not a showy dance like the quickstep that Ricky got 39 for the week before but she did dance it beautifully and I couldnt see any mistakes so it got the perfect mark.......she was always going to be top with a 'pincessy' type dance unless she fell over.

It might be different next week- Laila and Jade have ballroom and Ali and Ricky W are both on latin - where they are not as good
If Laila has the Waltz I wouldn't be surprised to see her top - and the tango should suit Jade |

There is in fact an example from last night where Len said almost exactly the same thing to (I think) Ricky W and Phil - 'the thing I like about you is that you come out here and give it your all' (See on the banner above - 'Strictly' Week Eight: What the judges said) |

Len says that to almost everyone. He even says variations of it on Dancing With the Stars. It's becoming almost as much of a catchphrase as "Seven!"

Yup this week when Len told Aaron he had enough energy to light up Hollywood, I knew we would hear the same comment rehashed to fit the Blackpool Lights. They really should be more original considering both shows are seen the world over.
