Doing an little known song like Danyl did with I didn't even know my own stength and Lucie may be doing this week or doing a song that's been done to death like Danyl did the week he find himself in the bottom 2 with Feeling Good and like what Lloyd and Jamie might be doing this week

Oh good post, not sure though, I had heard the song Danyl sang soley due to watching Whitney the hour before on Oprah, and she ended the show singing that same song, she also sang it better than Danyl, and dont all jump up and down, behave I am a huge Danyl fan but I am also brutally honest as well.

I think the audience at home need to know the song, however saying that a song that has been overdone and overcooked can be annoying, and both the ones you mention have been well and truely done to death, the other one I see as being in that category and to be honest boring into the bargain is Twist and Shout that Ollie is doing, I hate the song, but it will get the audience going in the studio which I think is why it has been chosen if the leaked songs are in fact correct.

Joe has a good song, and it has not been done to death and many people not only know it but like it, but he is going to have to do a good job with it or I fear he could find himself in the bottom tomorrow.

Yeh I think you have it spot on there. Danyl doing that unknown Whitney song was a stupid idea. The audience should know the song

I just think in big band week for example there were lot's of lesser known songs like Olly's Bewitched, never heard of it and wasn't familar with Lucie's song either yet it was the best peformance of the night and that was the night she won me over, then you had Danyl and Miss Frank in the bottom 2 having sang really known songs

If it is a really, really good song then I don't think it matters if some of the audience don't know it. As long as it's a song that grabs immediately, rather than a "grower". I'm sure you'll know what I mean.

Lucie's song grabs you straight off or at least it did for me

They did pick some odd songs Big Band week and although I knew Danyls it is also a song that I am not keen on.

I think its good to have a recognisable song, unless as someone says, its an easy to love first time song!

If you can pull it off, then it's best to have a recognisable song. On the other hand if you do an unknown song-nobody can compare you to someone else.

it should be what's worse...

but i would say that in terms of trying to gain votes then doing a little known song is worse but i prefer to hear a new song rather than the usual suspects

I'd rather a brilliant song I hadn't heard before than a familiar one I disliked.

Lucie's song is nice and melodic but too fluffy and unfamiliar. She will need a really top rate performance to make it memorable. She could struggle for votes, especially if she's on early.
