I think so too - and I loved the 'cha cha cha' at the end - he was having fun with it.
Penny did a good job too considering it was her first time dancing with Matt - I enjoyed the whole spot

But did anyone else hear Bruce talking over it at the beginning. He must have left his mic on open when he left the stage.

Just a bit of techie background...

Mics are controlled by the sound engineer. They don't have an on/off switch. Technically they are live all the time and the sound engineer will have a fader for each mic. which he/she would put up and down at the appropriate moments.

In this case the sound engineer / board operator would have not faded out his mic. Completely out of Bruce's control and he wouldn't have known anything about it.

Rod was great

Penny not so - never one of my favourites

It's hardly the Palace Theatre in Bodmin or something is it? What's your point?

Except, by coincidence, the saying 'Gone Bodmin' means gone crazy!

Are you kidding? A formerly 'big' rock star (who of course still has millions of fans I'm sure) who hasn't had a hit in a long time, gets to play on one of the UK most popular prime time TV shows that is watched by broad demographic in terms of audience? Lucky break for him more like.

I have an eclectic taste in music, I like everything from classical to hard rock, and everything in between. I'm rather ambivalent towards Mr Stewart's music, but I couldn't help but cringe when I saw him playing on Strictly. I was literally shaking my head wondering why a prime time flagship show doesn't seem to have a broader range of musical guests.

This thread truly amuses me! Do you honestly think that Rod Stewart (The Icon that he is) would have sang on SCD if it hadn't have been for his wife being asked to dance and therefore at the same time being asked to persuade her husband to perform?

...and the show was not nearly spoiled due to her dancing with Matthew. Reality check! SCD (ignoring Aleshia and her nasty words tonight against Craig) put on a great show tonight and Rod Stewart is and always will be a star.

Quite a few "catty" remarks on here about Penny Lancaster.

From the point of view of the "average viewer," she didn't do badly at all.

What did some want to do? Give her marks out of ten?

I thought she carried it off well enough for a family entertainment programme.

I see from a TV ad today Rod has a new CD out of classic Motown covers. He's always been astute when it comes to business opportunities and good luck to him.

As for the knockers of Rod's voice, it's still better than many who have appeared on SCD.

Some will try to find fault with anything.

I agree I thought she was a tad over-rated in the show and her efforts tonight didn't convince me she was the Strictly's greatest celeb latin dancer but she looked like she was enjoying herself, she was doing a reasonable job (she was light years better than Craig Kelly) and it made a change to see a former contestant back during the music section and because she was a former contestant it wasn't inappropriate for her to be doing that. It was sweet that Rod got to have his Mrs perform alongside him so to speak.

I agree - it was a nice touch I thought.

I am not a great fan of Rod but I enjoyed his performance and he sang LIVE which is quite something as we constantly see established stars like Britney etc mime to their records on X Factor. Penny hopping around was a bit embarrassing as she looks like a colt and is all legs and arms and cannot dance. So disappointed by Amy Winehouse who I was so looking forward to seeing only to have her as a back up singer to her God daughter who I had never heard of!!!!!.
