It has taken the public 5 years to persuade the Beeb to revisit Blackpool. How was tonight for you? should the Beeb revisit in future?

9 out of 10. If it weren't for the cringeworthy embarrasment of hearing Bruce and Tess wittering in the background while Rod Stewart was singing a cappella, it would be a 10.

As much as I'm sad that my favourite professional dancer is no longer in the show I thought tonight's Strictly was fantastic, the atmosphere in the Tower Ballroom seemed incredible
. If only they could do the show in Blackpool each week......I'd give it a 9, again knocking a point off for the slightly dodgy sound quality |

I agree with many of the others - 9 for the unfortunate sound quality issues. That cavernous room is not built to be a TV studio.

I'll give it a 7.
I don't know about the sound quality, but the guitarist really cocked up on a couple of songs, it sounded like it only had one slack string left. Edit: to be fair I'll up that to 9, for the sheer pleasure of seeing Flavia looking so pleased at Craig being given the boot. |

9.5 (-.5 for the sound problems on HD).
Given that I live here in Blackpool there's always an awful lot I dislike about the town. The stag/hen parties, the general state of the town's buildings and the never ending nostalgia for a period in the town's history that is never coming back. The two things Blackpool should be rightfully proud of though are the Grand Theatre and the Tower Ballroom. I've seen a few of the pros there doing their cabaret evenings at the ballroom and they've all remarked on what a joy it is to dance there. The room itself is incredible to be in and well worth a visit if you're ever here. I thought the BBC did a stunning job lighting and shooting the ballroom that made it look like the jewel it is. The crowd were superb and the contestants & professionals alike were visibly lifted by both the venue and the reception. Great to see Jill there as well. And the rendition of 'Maybe I'm Amazed', the first dance I had with my wife on our wedding day. One of those precious few times when all concerned got it right and produced a fantastic show in a fantastic venue. Made the usual London studio shows seem pedestrian and constrained. Thanks BBC for making me feel proud of the town for the first time in years! |

10 - best show for a very long time, I loved the shows back in the early series when they went to Blackpool, and the magic that I felt from the shows at Blackpool returned this evening, amazing atmosphere and it looked magnificent - I think I'd enjoy the whole series more if more shows were done at Blackpool.

8 with tongue in cheek. Two things were missing, a serious wardrobe malfunction and Bruce having to re-start his number after missing his intro. So not enough hilarity, despite Alesha vs Craig.
Really more like a nine. |

I'll give it a 9, for the same sound issues as everyone else has said
Next week they'll have to do some serious work to have a more glamorous event. Otherwise it will be like getting into a Morris Minor when you've just got out of a Bentley. They'd nearly need to have a duet wtih Elvis Presely and Michael Jackson and guest dancing by Alesha, Ramps, Spangles, The Halfpenny, Gough and Chambers.
