Naff choreography spoiling the show?

I have found the best performances have been the ones without the awful American-style showtime dance routines, ie Jamie and Danyl last night.

These routines are irritating and too over the top and remind me of what you get on cruises.

Surely, if the acts need a bit of spicing up, something more simple would be better (except for Jedward, who need this sort of thing to disguise their complete lack of talent).

When you look at the performance by Olly, the camera is as much on the dancers than the singer. why? who are we judging, Cowell said that was entertaining, like Louis says with Jedward, but we are voting on SINGING not dancers and entertainment and if we want them as a friend!

Do you watch any chart VT's or go to live performances?

Yes. But those don't detract from the performance, they compliment it.

Therefore it is down to perception...

It's interesting to see who needs the OTT production to make their act seem more memorable. The more crowded the stage the less focus is on the actual singer.

Yes.

Of course, it's a matter of opinion.

But I do find that some of the performances are turned more into a spectacle (ie Olly's) than a demonstration of someone's singing ability.

If that is the case the twins should be first on the list....

Agreed. That goes without saying.

The huge choreography is done as it's a Saturday night entertainment show, it's not a singing contest whatsoever. If you want a singing contest, I'm sure there's a local talent show that you could head to. What Simon Cowell is obviously looking for is someone who can headline their own tours. The Shayne Ward solo tour didn't really light up the world, so he's looking for someone who can put on a show. When you look at the Take That tours, or any of the live shows shown on T4 - it's a show. It's huge choreography, it's huge budget. Simon Cowell wants someone who can instantly slot into a solo tour after a successful debut album.

I agree

You want to be able to listen to them on a radio, and get blown away when you see them live. And to come out of the show and say that was worth every penny.

I see that, but I don't think the glitzy style is right for these performers at this stage (such as acrobatics and trapeze artists, awful Mills and Boon dancing in the background). Too gimmicky. Too overpackaged.

Take That and all other talented performers have the show built round them, not the other way round.

Maybe the X Factor acts at the moment just aren't strong enough to carry it off.

But I do find myself enjoying some of the performances until the prancing percies come on.

Of course, it's all a matter of opinion.

yet again Brian making his presence known...

He was annoying enough as a Judge..WTF he is still doing there I dont know..Or wait.
He is Male Sinitta getting paid a packet for doing nothing AT ALL.

If the guy had a Shred of self Respect he would realise he has a Pity job that cowell created to keep Brian sweet.

For me, the acts are spoiling the show this year. It should be renamed the Mediocre Factor. The choreography at least provides a little light relief.
