Presumably that is an acknowledgement that the update is highly likely to copied off one of those said USB sticks and uploaded to the net
?If the update is successful they can claim it was 'commonly' available from the tenth and if it fouls up people's boxes they can wash their hands of it and say people were using software that had not been officially released. |

If so it's a sneaky ploy by Humax to have their cake and eat it.

Bob_Cat,
A few questions regading upgrades to the HDR Could you describe the update process for the HDR? Will it require user intervention/acceptance? How long does the process last? What indicators ar there to show the process was sucessful (or otherwise!)? What documentation will be available, post update? Thanks PJ |

If an Olympic committee were to allow cynicism as a new Olympic sport, I'm certain that we'd have enough people here to form a team with reserves.

Agree with you there!
Some of the things people are saying are insane. ![]() Every person as the right to submit an opinion, it's called democracy. I'm also a cynic, I've seen deadlines come and go too often in my career not to be! There's far to much name calling, it's getting nearly as bad as the licence fee debates in other threads! |

So cynical, don't you think the new firmware's out there under test already
Had he not posted I wouldn't have thought anything was amiss but when he comes onto this thread and pointedly says nothing about the release (even when asked directly) I can't help but think 'There is something fishy in the state of Denmark'. As I said I'll be delighted to have my doubts proven unfounded.

To accuse your fellow forum members of insanity is a bit over the top I think.

It was only the behaviour of the Humax bod that got me thinking. If this was all 100% kosher why on earth would he not have said as much. |

Graham, if everything was above board and Humax were going to do a proper, official, release as PVR Junction suggests then why on earth do you suppose that Bob_Cat just ignored what was, at the time, just a minor puzzlement at the wording.

People get annoyed when I say that Humax are 'unprofessional' but even when they do eventually say somethings it's all but unintelligible.
Talking of pig's, ..... I've been out for a walk on the farm, singing my little ditty: If life seems jolly rotten(With thanks to Eric Idle) I know I've posted this before, but, what's a ditty without the music? Here's a link to the Midi download. (As always, be careful when downloading from a unknown source. I take no responsibility for any damage, etc., etc,...) Go on, try it. Let's make this a Happy Thread.

Why should Bob respond directly to questions?
But he did respond directly. "Makes sense not being too committal until it is actually available." He just didn't say anything useful on the topic. I'm not stating that there is something untoward going on, just noting that with certain people suggesting that the wording means that Humax are expecting people to effectively pirate the update, and Humax not denying that stance, nothing is cut and dried. Only someone rather naive and gullible would not ask why, if Humax were going to do an official release of the update they would have told a third party site rather than just putting the information on their website. Anyway, I don't know why certain people are getting so antsy about it - we'll find out in a few days.

I think you are looking for mystery where there is none. Some members of the public will have the update on the 10th. (via USB), others will have to wait a while longer. At least you know it's coming soon.
![]() It could just be PVR junction who added the oddly worded 'filter out' statement. Apparently Humax have said the release is with DTG. |
