Just discovered the wording filtered out did not come from a Humax source. I leave readers to draw their own conclusions !

First time you have made me laugh Tern.
That's 'cause you've never seen me try and play tennis.

Well, I wasn't expecting anything to happen 'til the end of the year at the earliest so if this comes off I'll be very happy!
Tern, Tern, Tern,

It's only a piece of electronics kit. Shouldn't affect your happiness, one way or the other.

Get out, go for a walk, sing the ditty....
Let go of Digital Spy for a while......

Try to keep looking on the bright side of life.
(You can get through this, I promise you, you really, really, can.)

But he did respond directly.
And I put it to you Mr. Tern, that in your 8:07 post (post #30) you said and, we have this on record, Bob.... "pointedly says nothing about the release (even when asked directly)".

What I'm suggesting is that Bob (if indeed an employee of that name does exist!) doesn't have to respond to a comment or question. In recent memory I recolect that he, being offended to such an extent, considered ceasing further contributions.

In one post, related to the above, he did say that future announcements would appear on official sites and they haven't. Today he commented "Makes sense not being too committal until it is actually available." To me that means that it's not 'out there' but when it is it'll be officially announced.

Whoever Bob is, he won't be coaxed into giving the reply that some people seem deperate to hear. Well, not until Humax are ready.

Swiz,

That is the v1.00.03 download which was used to improve the software download mechanism. It was well documented on this site.

Bob
Thanks Bob & others, I'm not paying attention!

I assumed it was talking about '04'

I'm awake now.

Bob_Cat,

A few questions regading upgrades to the HDR

Could you describe the update process for the HDR?

Will it require user intervention/acceptance?

How long does the process last?

What indicators ar there to show the process was sucessful (or otherwise!)?

What documentation will be available, post update?

Thanks

PJ
Bumped for Bob.

Yes, I really, really, really do believe in you (I was was just joking about with Tern. Yes, I know I'm easily lead and he'll get me into trouble).

When you get a moment, could you answer these questions

Despite all the erudite banter, has no-one noticed that Humax haven't fixed the power failure issue, whereby the box never comes out of standby after a power failure, thus failing to record anything?

For me, that's the biggest single problem with this box and means I can't trust it to record when I go on holiday. What use is that?

Do you get that many power cuts Geoff? How many holidays do you take? I take your point that it's an issue but I would have thought that as power cuts are usually quite rare that the chance of one happening while you're on holiday is extremely unlikely.

It would still be good if it were fixed though as common sense should dictate that when the unit powers up that it should grab the current date/time from a satellite...

Not many, thankfully. But haven't you heard of Sod's Law?

Same here. Bob_Cat has said that it is not a hardware fault and it's purely a software issue that is difficult to fix.

I wonder whether the actual cause of the problem is located within the Bootloader which cannot be updated via a normal OTA firmware update (at least I don't think so) and if done wrong could completely knacker the box. Not that I haven't done similar things with hardware at work and had to J-TAG it or whip the chip out and re-program it to get it talking again (ahem)
