Yes it is very haunting, I love it and no music, just her voice...lovely. My favourite version.

Gummo is a tremendous movie but very difficult to watch due to Korine's choice of non-actors in the roles and lack of narrative-

Jamie's version of the song was awful- J&E, Danyl or Stacey should win this on talent or entertainment value

I didnt like that either. Was no need for it at all. He just came across as very petty and nasty by shouting out im a judge and ur just a presenter. Louis needs to stop acting like a pratt

also noticed Louis' comment to Lloyd - 'there are four better singers than you in this competition' . I presume he wasn't including his own act there then! Oops.

It was in the background of Mulholland Drive, rather than a theme song and was not what Jamie sang anyway. That's why it wasn't originally stated as being from that film. Anyway, do people actually still think that the judges make these comments off the cuff. The whole thing is scripted but Cheryl usually can't even remember the couple of sentences she has to say without reading it. Louis and Simon have to have a spat ruining through the shows. The only one who probably goes genuinely 'off message' is Danni

It was just scripted banter.

Of course he wasn't that was why he made a point of repeating it. Louis has never claimed they are the best singers. It is not him or Simon that is keeping them in - somebody must be voting for them.

I thought the songs had to be written specifically for movies But the actual theme songs from movies was good as it's pretty broad, because shedloads of songs are used in most movies, even if they aren't originally for a movie.

Utter garbage. It's all scripted (badly).

I agree - you can tell, because she sometimes accidentally gives them constructive criticism.

Bet she gets rapped on the knuckle for it after the show, though.

I looked up on the song on wikipedia and it actually appears in three different movies.

Yes, it's almost like the whole thing was set up just so's Louis could make that comment or something.

It was hardly a background song in MD. The whole song was featured and in a pivotal scene too.

But are they in Louis Walsh's DVD collection?

The version from Mullholland Drive is by another act and is sung in Spanish. Jamie was doing was by Roy Orbison which featured in the cult movie Gummo.

The movie that should have been quoted is Hiding Out - the film in which KD Lang duetted with Roy Orbison.

I 100% agree with louis

What - that because he hadn't seen the movie it should not have been allowed? How do you justify it then?

I thought Jamie gave a really good, moving performance
I don't remember Crying from Gummo (though I have seen it)

It was done on purpose to heighten the 'rivalry' but it doesn't even make sense because the challenge is it's 'not a film the whole world and their dog has seen', whereas you can classify songs into rock or non-rock.

It really is time someone told the judges to use some imagination instead of using the same themes and the same songs.”

You can't just use any song ever in the world when you want to. They only have the rights to a few songs and unfortunately 99.5% of them seem to be arse.

'Stand By Me' was around long before the film of the same name, and 'Beautiful Girls' was certainly not included. Likewise, 'Twist and Shout' was around long before Ferris Bueller's Day Off and 'Son of Preacher Man' long before Pulp Fiction.
