Louis: I don't know the movie it's from....
WTF is Louis on?
Just because Louis hasn't heard of Gummo doesn't mean Simon is cheating. The only rule is it has to be a song from a movie - not Songs From Movies Louis Has Seen FFS BTW I thought Jamie gave the best performance I've seen so far tonight (I'm watching a recording). I would have preferred it if he hadnt used his rock voice on it though but an emotional performance ![]() Lloyd was pretty bad IMO, Stacey was good, sang well, looked good - Olly was cabaret/karaoke IMO. He hardly made that his own, it sounded like any other version of Twist and Shout to me. |

Louis baiting Simon. Usually he has a point but this week he's just being stupid.

Just proves what a pointless 'category' it is.
I guess you could find just about any song on a film somewhere if you looked hard enough. |

He hardly made that his own, it sounded like any other version of Twist and Shout to me. Jamie's performance was good but not great. Not sure what you mean by "rock voice" though. I think that's just how he sings. No? Lloyd was miles better than he has been and I'm not sure why they picked the bit where we went wrong to show in the voting clips. I didn't particularly like Stacey's performance. For me, she's not yet delivered on the potential she has. But I thought Olly was actually great. Really good performance and the one that the studio audience seemed to feel strongest about (excluding the horrible booing for the twins - I wish they wouldn't do that!) |

I do agree it should be a well known song from a well known move.
Most songs have probably been played as a backing track in a movie. Should we classify any Abba song as eligible for movie week for example because it was in Muriel's wedding? |

I mean when Jamie started the song he sang it softly and emotionally and then when he got to the chorus he sang it like "CRYYYYYYY-IIIIIIING" much more loudly and I don't think it went with it.
Agree BTW, Lloyd was better than he has been (last week for example). I thought he was going to do Sean Kingston for a bit

Hmm...perhaps that was just his way of putting his own stamp on the song? I think it worked.

Isn't this the 3rd week in a row that Louis has accused at least one other judge of cheating ?
I thought he had a point in Big Band week for about 30 minutes, until he gave J&E "She Bangs", by Ricky Martin. Note to Louis : It doesn't have to be a blockbuster or even a movie you've seen for it to be a valid song choice. You just make yourself look like an immature uneducated plonker. So instead of pointing the finger, how about you do a quick google search on your phone during the performance if you're unsure, or get one of your cronies to do it for you. |

Louis is just tedious, quite frankly. Last night particularly so.

Overall I really liked the performance after last week's one. It was so stripped down compared to Rock Week and I think the song suited him better than Unchained Melody would have done.

Louis comes across as very contradictory. I remember him hating Same Difference who I would classify in the same sort of category as John and Edward. At least Same Difference made some effort to actually sing properly though. This year because he has the twins, it's about the fun factor rather than a singing competition.
Someone called in last night on the Xtra Factor and was asked if would still be supporting J&E even if they weren't in his category and he said he would because they were fun, entertaining. Basically a novelty act. He seems to forget the last novelty act, that weren't in his category were "Same Difference" who he absolutely hated. They could sing and dance 10x as well as J&E. |

The brother could - the sister was usually as flat as a pancake. |

Louis is just becoming as pointless.
Apologies for the pun Someone's got to make Simon look like what he is talking about. I've heard of the movie Gummo and I haven't really seen that many independent uncommercialised films.

Exactly. My thoughts!

Basically a novelty act. He seems to forget the last novelty act, that weren't in his category were "Same Difference" who he absolutely hated. They could sing and dance 10x as well as J&E. Same Difference got a lot of stick at the time but they were vastly superior to J & E. |

Yes but let's be honest, this was clearly a case of choose a song and then get some researcher to spend hours on the internet to find out if it has ever been used in a film! Really defeats the object doesn't it?

I've seen both Gummo and Mulholland Drive, so it's a completely valid song choice as far as I'm concerned.
Has he seen Camp Rock, I wonder? I haven't, but I wouldn't complain about that - it's just Louis being Louis as usual! |

I can Louis' point... Jamie wanted to sing that song simply because he knows it & can sing it well, so they then checked to see if it had been in a film...
I cannot see Jamie lasting much longer as he simply isn't versatile enough & Simon keeps "bending" the rules for him... It is true that almost any song could have been in a film at some point, but isn't it then a really pointless category?? Surely it should at least be a fairly well known one? |
