Why did Ali have a flower on her arse?
Jade's lime green number was naff, don't get me started on what Ian was wearing... ![]() Katya was dressed in a posh curtain with some sparkly knickers that you could see in the dark - aluminium pants. Erin's dress was inspired by Bjork's swan dress. Whilst the colours for Laila's dress were good the execution was off. Natalie C's wasn't great but wasn't as bad as the voluminous red tent. (worn by your great Aunt Vera) |

In fairness to the dress designers Natalie C has a difficult body shape, she is big around the middle. When they put ladies like her in drop waist flowy gowns that attempt to sail past this problem area everyone complains, when they put her in fitted stuff everyone complains. They can't magically give her an hourglass figure when she hasn't got one.
Natalie does have a very unusual body shape. Her natural shape is thick waist & wide bum, however, she had her boobs done a few years ago which means that she's just big all over & quite short. Not sure why she had breast implants, her figure was much nicer without them. She would look good in trousers instead of dresses. I'm no having a dig at big girls, Leticia dean & Mica Paris were both on the large size (IIRC bigger than Natalie) but they had narrow hips (Leticia) or hourglass (Mica) |

Thought the worst dress of the season was Flavias from a couple of weeks back. Grey thing that looked Primark-in-need-of-a-good-Gok that showed pit stains something atrocious! Far from flattering.

My worse gripe was that they didnt at least colour co-ordinate the dresses to the Remembrance Day poppies that they insisted all the couples should wear.
On some - Ali's aquamarine gown for example - they looked truly hideous and totally ruined the 100s of hours the designers and dressmakers put in to make them. I'm all for getting behind the Remembrance period but for the 5 minutes or thereabouts that they perform and receive judgments, wearing a poppy makes it rather tacky. I would have thought that a large display poppy or wreath somewhere on stage would have signified the combined support from the Strictly performers. In general terms, I think Natalie C has had the worst dresser and hairstylist this season - they dress her as if she were a pensioner - she is only in her twenties? I liked the change of style in Jade's outfit - uplifting and fun as per her dance. I feel there is a definite air of cost-cutting this year what with the already commented upon re-cycling of shirts etc. |

the award for most unflattering dress of this season has to go to something Lilia wore with the belt around her bare middle which contrived to make her look fat
![]() but there has been a consistant failure to dress Natalie age or figure appropriate and when you se her in her own clothes and make up on ITT she looks so much better the hair and make up has been really off this season as well as some of the dresses I really loved Laila paso dress this week and Zoes parrot thing last week sometimes the costume department are so busy following trends , like making the dresses look like corsets , that he yseem to have lost the plot whenit comes to trying to make then look beautiful |

Somebody actually LIKED Zoe as a parrot? Quickly! Call an optician.
Why do they do yellow? Ever? They have never made a yellow dress that suited anyone. Erin is especially gruesome in yellow. |

The designs for Flavia fascinate me as they tend to either be the most stunning on the night or the most hideous. I wonder if they are all designed for her or if she chooses some of them (and if so does she choose the great or the ugly?) |

OK, Alesha looks good in yellow but that's it.
I hate Flavia's split pants but I know they have lots of admirers. |

I liked Ali's dress!
Thought it suited the VW very well.I HATED that red catsuit of Ola's and wasn't keen on Katya's net curtain on Saturday. |

Imo, Ali always has the most gorgeous dresses. My fave dress of the series so far has got to be her American Smooth dress....she looked stunning. Ali could look gorgeous in anything but her ballroom dresses really are beautiful.

for the life of me, i can't remember what the proper terminology is, but bear with me as i try to describe what i mean. could they not put Natalie in something which is nipped in right under her bust and then flows out - that way hiding the 'problem area'?
EDIT: remembered it - empire waist, is what i meant ![]() For Latin she should have dropped waist with flared circle skirts - along the lines of Jill Money'thingy's (no disrespect, just can't remember her name!) dress when she danced her jive with Darren. Trouble is, the dress designers are used to designing mainly for girls of Ola/Flavia's size - who can generally look good in any design. They forget the celebs are not pro dancers, and what is fashionable on the current dance scene is not necessarily flattering for everyone. I know couple of senior dancers (over 35s) who have had trouble getting this particular dressmaking company to design them suitable dresses. Another faux pas was Jade's green latin dress - very (dance) fashionable, but it is a style that it is not easy to wear. There is an amazing pro dancer called Yulia, who wears this style, and looks fab-u-lous, but Jade needed something with more movement and fullness. |

I really disliked Natalies Jive dress it gave the impression that she had thuder thighs (if you know what I mean) that style never suits a curvier lady.
Natilie lost loads of weight at some point so maybe that was when she had her boob job. I've gone from a size 16 to a 10/12 and my bust has gone so maybe the same thing happened to her. I agree the dresses look so much nicer in the pics than they do on a saturday night lol |

Natalie is a challenging shape for dressmakers used to dressing thin women dancers but that's their job for heavens sake! I could design outfits for thin people and they would still look good
![]() I cringe when I see poor Natalie in those long sleeved ball gowns with her hair done like a 30's film star. She looks about 50. And that jive dress was horrible, she looked like a scary Shirley Temple. I am in the minority in that I loved Jade's jive dress. She looked trendy and fab to me. No one seems to have mentioned Laila's paso dress. I thought the black net at the back was awful. It looked like the cheap nylon stuff I bought at the market to make my daughter's halloween costume. Very tacky. It would have been much better without the net. |

There have been absolutely vile dresses this year! They certainly didn't seem to know how to flatter Natalie & Linda's figures. But they've made equally unflattering outfits for the pros...
Tho - I absolutely loved Katya's dress this week - gorgeous! I wanna wear it to a Christmas party... |

they have made natalie look frumpy throughout I think - but they have generally done the same with flavia
I'm not overly keen on this new trend of female pros dancing in their knickers a la Lisa Snowdon and the bacofoil disaster Erin was definitely 'toilet paper bride' on Saturday

I've loved all of Ali's dresses so far, apart from that hideous blue thing they put her in in the MJ group dance. I couldn't bear to look.

just been watching the dresses for this week on ITT - Jades looks nice but has one of those corset effect tops that they seem to like putting her in.....again natalies is a weak colour - although the halterneck style is more modern than some of the stuff they give her....but its a drop waist again......
Laila's dress looks nice - like the fringing Ali's dress - couldnt tell the colour.... |

the costume dept must have decided that certain materials or styles go with certain celebs:
Laila - lots of fringing (the black one and white dress and now this new one) Natalie - Halterneck Ola - as little as possible Jade - the basque top Katya - they experiment on her (!!!!) |

Maybe it's because it's easy to design and to look good with the runway bod that Ali owns. This week she has the worst design. Not only is it old fashioned, but with the panel of heavy material in the front of the dress, and splits on the sides, creates the feeling of dancing with an obstacle in front of you. If you have been practicing all week without that restriction. It could throw you off during the performance. Or at least take you mind off what you are doing. BIG disadvantage. |
