My absolute favourite is undoubtedly the Argentine Tango and has been since I was 12 and I first saw it in television, I was just so moved by the passion and intricacy of it all I actually convinced myself that I must have been Argentinian in a past life
. Before that, I was in love with the rhumba and the paso. I'm a latin girl at heart. That being said, I don't like the samba. I think its ugly. I'm also not a huge jive fan because its hard to do a "beautiful" jive. Fun, complicated, perky but not "beautiful". Oh, and I also love the American Smooth and Foxtrot and Quickstep because of the old school Hollywood Elegance of it all. *Sigh* |

Agree it totally depends on who is dancing.
My favourite dances - the VW, AS and the Jive. My least favourite - the Rhumba and the Samba. In fact, I've just said on another thread I'd like to see them replaced by the Charleston and the Jitterbug, both of which were danced on series of DWTS and were great fun to watch. |

My favourite dances are the AS, rhumba and jive.
My least favourite dance is the Argentine tango - I don't like the sharpness and the pokey legs. |

I love the Jive, samba and waltz and Paso. Don't hate anything but least favourite is probably the Foxtrot. I love the Rhumba done well but it often isnt! EDIT actually on reflection my least favourite is the AT.

favorite tango
least favorite rhumba ( and this seem to be an espcially difficult dance for men , the women can whirl about like a dervish and then pose beautifully , but the men only seem to have the posing thing available for them and often look a little lost! ) |

My preferences have evolved. I used to find the Foxtrot and Rhumba quite tedious, but I appreciate them much more now.
But I'll settle for: Ballroom - Tango Latin - Jive (although the Samba has been growing on me recently). Not keen on the Cha Cha or VW. |

In agreement with almost everyone I definitely think it depends on who is dancing them and I would tend to like any dance that is done well and with some pizazz (rather than being technically good but dull).
I think this is why I find the rumba and the samba really hard to like and also why I tend to prefer ballroom to latin generally as it seems to be harder for the celebs to get good at. However, when it comes to the pros dances I really like the latin ones particularly the jive. My all time favourite though is definitely the quickstep, it just looks like so much fun to do! |

Fave is the jive (wish they would do the lindyhop as I find it great to watch).
Not struck on the waltz - find it a tad dull. |

To dance : All time absolute Favourite has to be the rumba, and in ballroom, the foxtrot & tango.
To watch : done properly - again, rumba and foxtrot & tango. On Strictly, however, I'd say rumba is the worst dance, with samba a close second! Haven't seen ANY celeb manage either dance properly, which is, I think why so many viewers hate both. |

Yet again, it depends on who dances it.
Generally, I used to prefer Latin but as I watch more and more ITTs and learn about the Ballroom, I appreciate it more. Favs: Jive, Paso Doble, Foxtrot, Tango Dislike: Rhumba and any 'acrobatic' performances like L&B's Showdance and the professional showdance the week previous to it last year. |

Is it "Rumba" or "Rhumba"? There seems to be no consensus on here! I always thought it was "Rumba".
Any dance can be good. It's a pity that British people can't seem to do Latin at all. |

I like Jive and Quickstep, and least favourite is Foxtrot. Don't dislike any of the latin dances (I must like things speeded up!)

Danced by the contestants on Strictly:
Favourite: Waltz (most of them tend to do it fairly well) Least favourite: Rumba (usually cringy and pose-y) Danced by pros: Favourite: Jive or foxtrot Least favourite: Don't think I can pick one. To dance myself: Favourite: Rumba or tango Least favourite: Foxtrot (so difficult). Although every so often the dance and the music click for me and I absolutely love it. |
