Humax HDR "What you want"

Has anybody noticed the English mistake what () appears when you have a choice of recording in HD or SD?

"Select the programme what you want"

Perhaps this explains why the box freezes when confused. It can't speak English!!

Humax is a Korean company, so you can probably half expect it to have ropey English. There are quite a few places where the grammar isn't quite right.

No excuse for ropey English in such a product, a couple of hours of professional translation is all it needed.

Only problem linguistics students don't really have a grasp of electronics, engineering and technology. Example "For the bestest picture use your TV adjustments and the holes in which you can stick in a peace of wire". Look forward to the best translation from the original Korean by the multilingual amongst us ". Wish I new what the Korean for that was

A couple of messages slipped through the net at launch because of time. Normally things are translated, then they are supposed to be checked over after translation and then used. However in the case of some features they are authored by the engineers, and in the process of concentrating on checking the functionality we miss things staring us in the face.

We recently did another 'string' review so you will get a chance to see if we missed anything this time. This one was done by consensus with the experienced CS Manager, myself and a well educated Korean colleague. Hopefully we didn't miss anything this time.

I agree it isn't very good if we miss something, which reminds me I must correct some of my colleagues on their use of Mhz in a recent prototype (non-UK) I saw, I think that was a case of designers not being engineers and engineers not checking. Plus I think some software engineers aren't so hot on their SI units these days.

Ahhh and there's me thinking it's a "what we want from Humax" thread.

Can I say one thing... when deleting a programme I've just watched, it's annoying to click OK, down, down, down DELETE, left, YES, OK for each file.

I see there's going to be an auto delete, but I think the menu could have shortcuts like the other menus, like:
1 play from last point
2 play from start
3 delete

So you can just press 3, get to delete...and the default be YES instead of NO.

That would mean OK, 3, OK.

Given the youth of today's ability to even speak normally let alone communicate in anything other than TEXT SPEAK, I am sure the odd grammatical error can be forgiven from Humax.

Thanks Bob_Cat for your/Humax's honesty.

I passed a Printer & Stationer the other day. There in their window was a big sign saying "Wedding Stationary"

Whilst spelling and grammar are important I feel it is just as important to focus on operation techniques, like the one suggesteed by Mandarintje
