Who Decides?

Can anyone shed light once and for all on the way the music choices are picked each week?
(aka who's to blame )

I've seen suggestions that the producers choose, the professionals choose and also that it's a combination of both with the pros giving a list of preferred songs to the production team who then make the final choices.

Certainly there was a video clip last year of Camilla opening an envelope and announcing with delight to Tom, "It's Mr Brown!" for the Tango.

I'd also like to know how they decide who's appearing on the Christmas Show and Tour or is that random according to who is available?

The Pro Dancers give a list of 10 songs for each dance to Dave Arch, who then goes through them and decides which he and the orchestra can do, and then he picks three of them, which the Pro can choose from. This was what James Jordan told Paul O'Grady when Paul asked him who chose the music.

On the SCD Band website, one of the members (Trevor) has a weekly blog and he said in his week 7 blog:

Quote:
“If you have any question you would like answered please write to us via the FAQ page and I will do my best to answer.”

Alternatively, you can try tweeting them and you'll probably get an answer.

Have heard it is to do with copyright issues and to make sure that there is a mix of music each week ... but it may have input from the band on what they can play!
