i downloaded it from a site called mototone and then uploaded it to my web page, everything else i have downloaded from there has worked fine. This is the first mp3 ringtone i have tried to do and really want this tune. I'm on t-mobile, i know this phone takes mp3 ringtones so i don't know what is wrong

Sorry I can't help as yet.

However I am getting the V300 delivered at the weekend so will have a play aroung when I get it. If I find out any useful info I will let you know.

What do you think of the phone by the way? It looks like a good phone with all the features I need, which is why I have ordered it. It will be a big improvement on my current phone anyway!

What is the camera like? Are the photos reasonable quality?

Cheers

I love this phone, the pics are reasonable quality for a camera phone. It does take a while to learn who to work it as the book it comes with is rubbish, not helpful at all. But other than that i think the phone is fab.
If you need help with anything post and i will see if i can answer it for you, i got mine xmas and am still learning about it

Thanks for the offer of help.

I downloaded the manual from the Motorola Website the other day and I agree with you - it is shockingly bad!

I have had Motorolas in the past though and I have always liked them. I am looking forward to getting my V300 on Saturday.

By the way, with the MP3 ringtone - have you tried different bitrates? It is only a guess (and probably wrong) but I wonder if it will only accept certain bitrates? Or maybe the file size is limited to a certain value?

maybe it is, but i would have thought you should be able to change the file size limits on the phone, shame cause i really want this tone. maybe when i get my data cable it will go on.

Does the phone not come with a cable to connect to a computer? Damn!

By the way, I read a review about the V500 on the web somewhere and it said that the MP3 ringtones had to be 64kbps or less. Don't know if this applies to the V300 as well?

No it doesn't come with a cable but you can get one cheap of ebay, better then paying 40 quid from motorola.
If you happen to find out if thye ringtone does have to be 64kbps
then can you post here for me , i will do the same if i figure it out

The Mp3 ringtones don't have to be 64kbs or less.

I've used 128kbs ones on my V600 no problem and that part of the V600 and V300 is exactly the same.

In saying that, I'm not sure what your problem is. Might be something to do with the mp3 encoder that created the file...

Sounds more like the problem is to do with the download rather than the actual mp3. I've had problems downloading things before and I've never worked out why!

Currently the biggest mp3 I use is 750kb odds, but I've had ones about 1.8Mb on there before and they worked fine.

I put them on using bluetooth, but I've tried it using the cable and that works too.

When your cable arrives that should probably sort things for you...
