Ali and Brian's VW could very well be their wedding dance? I find it amazing that a dance with only a few steps such as VW can be so interesting to look at (though I feel the intro and ending was a tad too long). Whether they are an item or not, they really did connect in that dance and it's a joy to watch.

What a triumph!

Also, I often find Brian very harsh to look at sometimes (like a serial killer), but in the VT when they showed him tearing up because of the DO, he actually looked handsome, and likewise when he said to Ali in the clip 'We could continue to do this (dance)'. Anyone feels the same?

Funnily enough, on the best and worse chemistry thread, I chose Ali and Brian as the worse on stage. Obviously they have clicked in their personal relationships, but Ali is still far too timid when performing which makes it seem like Brian is over-performing, hamming it almost.

I think he needs someone more flamboyant to dance with. Hopefully next year

As a couple they just fail to excite me - but that VW was beautiful; almost ethereal.

She is excellent at the 'pretty princess' dances but doesnt convince in the Latin. Brian is an odd bloke sometimes I think he is good looking and sometimes I think he is odd looking. I like Ali but she always looks terrified and its a bit off putting.....

I do think Ali often looks like she'll break into many small pieces in her expressions sometimes. In Disney terms, she's more like Snow White than say Ariel in Little Mermaid.

While Ali may be 'demure', she's not as boring as Rachel for some reason. I guess it's because she didn't always repeat herself with lines like 'it's a dream come true' or 'I feel excited' or some such like that came out of Rachel's mouth that some branded her as a mechnical contraption.

So yes i thought it too I've always thought the VW was nice but a bit bland but now i know what its meant to be like i've completely changed my mind.

I was completely swept away by the romance of it all. The dress, their chemistry, their beautiful dancing. It was almost dreamlike to me it was so perfect.

I don't agree with the serial killer bit though I think Brian is gorgeous and his well mannered, thoughtful personality only enhances his looks

'Great minds' think alike.

Well I find Ali far more boring than Rachel, and cliches abound from all of the celebs in every year.

Well, horses for courses I guess. Only precious few times I found Rachel looked human when dancing was her rhumba. Her foxtrot was like a demo and perfect 40 it ain't. Perhaps technically she achieved the impossible for an ameatur but she often left me stone cold when she danced. All credit went to Vincent for not making me hate Rachel as a personality in the show last year.

I agree about Brian - I though he was good looking at first, but now he borders on looking psychotic at times......very odd

Their VW was beautiful and felt that it suited ALi

But for some reason she just CANT ACT - I voted for them on Sat because I thought that they did the best dance and I am warming to Brian more after ITT this week.......but I dread Ali trying to be sexy again.....she just cant do it

Well I find it hard to believe how anyone can make a fair and accurate assessment of a celebs personality (or lack of one) from a few staged VTs...dancing ability, absolutely, but not personality.

I have my favs but am not blindly adoring and oblivious to their technical limitations, and I have never "hated" anyone on a reality tv show. I watch and vote and that is it for me.

Comparisons between dancing styles and abilities is one thing, but comparing personalities is like judging apples and oranges, and thankfully many of the public like to see both not just one or the other. Forums seem to be full of personality assassinations based on VTs and tabloid "news", meanwhile none of really know the "real" person/personality behind the celeb title.

I'm just glad we all have different opinions, otherwise it would be so very boring indeed.

Thanks for that. I've been thinking the same thing but couldn't quite put a name to it. I like the guy but sometimes he can look quite scary.

I have to say that facially Brian is not exactly Brad Pitt, but he is so lovely, such a gent, and (obviously) such a fantastic dancer that I find myself adoring him despite his occasionally rather odd expression.

Ali is a bit of a Miss America type isn't she? Blonde and bland, with a personality so sweet you could get sugar shock. Must be what the all-American lad likes about her so much

I find her timidity an issue as well in enjoying her performances (nothing against her as herself in interview). She looks like she's hanging on to Brian, watching him for approval all the time, and her fragility stops me relaxing and enjoying them. I thought the VW was good but I can't honestly say it had any magic for me. Just goes to show how subjective it all is.

I almost hated the personality (or the lack thereof) portrayed in that few VTs, ITT interviews, media coverage of her interviews, her 5-minute interview in one of BBC's websites, and the dancing. But if I really did, i.e. if I hated (intensely dislike, not feeling any animosity) her personality, it's just that, what has been portrayed, not her as a person.

I'm afraid I haven't been won over by Ali & Brian and it's so late in the game now, I doubt I will ever truly warm to them.

They might be involved in a romance, but on the dancefloor, I detect very little chemistry between them.

Brian looks too intense all the time and Ali looks a bit vacant.

As Ali has two fast Latin dances to get through, I think Brian had better get her to an acting coach pronto. The objective would be to make her "get", in the sense of "understand", raunchy.

Raunchy is not usually a word I like to use; the best definition of it that I've ever heard is "sexy, used by people who haven't a clue what sexy really is". So at least as far as Ali's dance persona is concerned (privately, who knows?) that's a perfect objective to aim for.

I enjoyed it, it was the best dance of the night, but for me, it was not as beautiful/romantic as Matthew and Alesha's VW.

Ali has the same facial expression as Dougal from Father Ted... constantly bewildered. She also looks like she could burst out crying at any second.

She may be a decent dancer, but personally I find her incredibly dull.

Ditto! They do nothing for me, I'm sorry to say I find them a very odd couple, he always looks real scary and she looks like someone that has permanently lost her mojo.

I'd not be surprised if the BBC started the Ali & Brian "romance" rumours themselves, to make her seem a little less dull.

Weeell, I'm not so sure. Those kisses that Brian kept planting on Ali's forehead and cheeks were more than just professional gratitude for her performance, I feel. My wife, who doesn't follow this forum but knows more about these things in general than I do , said "That boy's in lurve"

Couldn't agree more- and Ali looked like she nearly kissed him after their score too- I think that they make a great couple and I like them.

We had the dull conversation last time with Rachel and as ever its horses for courses- also its how they are protrayed on teh Beeb in the clips- Ali is always much more personable on ITT
