Why didnt Flavia support Craig?

I know alot has been made about this but did anyone agree with me on the fact that Flavia could of said something when Alesha was ripping him to shreads.

I know Craig was a poor dancer and i did find him to be a bit smug tbh but i think Flavia could of questioned Alesha's comments, a bit similar to what Brendan did with Jo Wood. It seems to me that Flavia wasnt to keen on Craig and you could see the relief when the judges were eliminating him. Quiet dissapointed in that actually as she could of at least tried to push him, like Brendan did with Jo.

Hope Alesha is on ITT today, to maybe justify her comments on Saturday because a few people i know have said they are not going to watch the show anymore because of her so i think the audiance and Craig deserve an apology.

In all fairness, she did try to push Craig in the first few weeks, but he just panicked, and then made loads of blunders in the actual dance. So at one point, I noticed she just 'gave up' pushing and choreograph to Craig's ability (or the lack of), and ride it out for as long as she possible can.

I wondered that. To be honest she looked fed up with him, and not exactly pleased the weeks that he was saved by the public.

She knew that he wasn't any good, but I am surprised that she didn't at least say something about the rudeness of the comments, it was disappointing and I can't say that I like her much for it.

Perhaps he was driving her up the wall behind the scenes, obviously we don't know what went on, just that the results weren't very good.

I was also quite shocked that she didn't come to his defence once. She didn't have to challenge them over the fact that he didn't perform well, but she really should have said something about how unnecessarily rude their comments were. Very disappointed in her, actually.

Perhaps Flavia agreed with Alesha?

She may have been harsh, but she only said what everyone else was thinking.

Craig came across as delusional, annoying, and very cocky. No wonder Flavia didn't seem too upset to be voted out... she must have the patience of a saint to put up with him for 12 weeks.

But that is not Flavia's way. Im pretty sure she was getting on fine with Craig if reports and newsletters are to be believed but I think she realised that their time was up on Saturday. I think she was a bit staggered by Alesha's comments to be honest and I think she looked a tad upset.

It's easy to be wise after the event, i'm sure Flavia can think of 101 things she wishes she said to Alesha now the event's over. At the time though she looked as shocked as most of us were, I think Flavia has a nervous giggle/smile which is what we were seeing while Craig was being slated. She's not going to lie to him and say 'take no notice of them you were great'. She was always realistic about Craig's dancing abilities and choeorgraphed accordingly.

I agree. It must have been so hard for her trying to get him to improve when he already thought his dancing was near perfect!
He was obviously very thick skinned and totally delusional

He wasn't as bad as John Sergeant. Who Kristina still managed to support and defend publically, no matter what she really thought of his dancing. Jo Wood was hopeless, yet Brendan always came to her defence when the judges made nasty comments to her.

John Sargeant knew he was rubbish, and you knew full well that Kristina thought so too. The difference is that Mr Sargeant was endearing with it, not in denial.

Jo Wood simply benefitted from Brendan's unbelievable personality transplant.

I think she supported him through 8 weeks of the programme.

When did I ratify your self-promotion as universal mind-reader and spokesperson?

He was almost as bad as John Sergeant and JS did not take himself seriously. Flavia does not come across as a confrontational person. Craig's [somewhat remarkable] disbelief of his poor marks doesn't justify Alesha's rudeness but goes some way to pointing out his delusion. Flavia was probably non-committall as possibly she no longer cared?

I think that Flavia was probably hugely relieved. Karen Hardy talked about having to support celebs who can't get to grips with dancing and the strain it puts on the professionals. Poor Flavia has had a fixed grin on her face for weeks now and I would bet she is glad she can kick back and enjoy dancing again!

I'm not a mind reader, but I'd put money on Craig being the most awkward celeb Flavia has had to teach since she joined SCD - lovely guy, but completely deluded when it comes to his own dancing ability. She had a job to do and did it to the best of her ability and Craig's too, but it was probably a real strain.

So you are a believer in Craig's dancing ability? Yes?

You think it's fair that he used the sympathy vote to con his way to Blackpool?

Or are you just being rather pedantic?

it'll be interesting to see them on ITT tonight ... on the "good/bad chemistry" thread, its clear that a lot of people are of the opinion that Craig & Flavia didn't have the best relationship, but Flavia has remained professional throughout imo. Alesha's comments were pretty cutting, admittedly, but not all the professionals are given to 'taking on' the judges, particularly if, as other posters have said, she actually felt some of the comments were a realistic appraisal of his performance. I dont believe for a minute that they dislike each other, but hopefully tonight we will see them both() accepting that this was realistically the natural end of the line! I like Flavia very much & think she's been really professional throughout, and no doubt tonight the same.

I believe Craig Kelly did what he could within his limits, not sure whether your own limits are higher or lower. If you had a son and if his limits were lower still I would not dream of throwing him into the dustbin. All contestants are doomed to lose except for one at the end, and the rules are for phone voters to decide 50%. Those who do not like what they see are free to mute, or place a poster on IGNORE LIST as I shall do.

All contestants canvass for votes. I did not vote for anybody but would not interfere with or mock other people's freedom to vote. Unless you believe BBC perpetrated criminal fraud, quite a few persons chose to exercise their freedom to vote as they felt like when they felt like, ending with the results we have seen.

This forum has never been unanimous and will never be. I do not have appetite for calling you names, and have even less appetite for those who volunteer as universal spokesman. For this reason I do not expect a reply and have made use of the IGNORE LIST.

Yo, Denizen!

LOL? ROFLMAO, more like!

And to think I took flak for implying that some people on here are pompous.

I would imagine Brendan knew that while Jo was trying her hardest, she didn't have a hope of making it to the final (he said on ITT after they were eliminated that they didn't want to stay in the competition at the expense of contestants who were better dancers) therefore, his supportive side kicked in rather than his competitive side. His goal with Jo was presumably just to help her do her best for however many weeks they were still in the competition rather than to win.

Poor Flavia had just spent what probably seemed like a lifetime cha cha charing with a jelly. She was still in shock and I doubt if she would have been able to tell anyone her name or where she was let alone string a sentence together in support of Craig.

That's a very good point, if you are aware that improvement is required you are going to be more willing to learn and more open to instruction. It must have been very difficult for Flavia to break through his delusion in order for him the accept her tution.

And as someone else said she does not seem to have the most forceful of personalities. She seems to me to be polite and reserved (she barely got a word in edgeways on ITT this year).

I do wonder though if Craig was annoying as Claudia didn't seem to like him and she only had to put up with him for a short time once a week, not for hours every day.

Sadly, I have to agree. I think she'd had enough.
