Things to note with New Update released 10/11/09

Is it worth having a single thread for us all to note anything we spot with the new update Rather than all over the place.

First thing i noticed when deleting a folder with multiple episodes when you go back to your main listing you will still see the folder until the HDR has finished deleting. Then it clears.

Main things to note with update are to copy one file at a time onto a USB stick rename to "FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf", put stick in front USB and switch on the HDR using the standby button keeping it held, you should then see a screen with a update progressing, the rest is simply do what the onscreen tells you. Once you have done one do the other. I did the loader first then the main update with no issues. Total of 10 minutes.

The update to show the individual tuning in diagnostics doesn't look any different to me still showing a duplicate of one tuner, and if you try an 'lock' one of the tuners by setting a recording then you can't enter diagnostics anyway.

I moved my main dish connected to LNB1 slightly off focus & the level dropped as expected, but the level of my fixed dish on LNB2 stayed full strength, so the diagnostics is displaying each LNB separately.

Thanks for that peggle, so it appears that when you change channel using 'two cables (same)' both tuners retune when there is no recording taking place. So the feature only seems useful to owners like yourself with 'two cables (different)'

Try disconnecting each input in turn you only get a reading for the connected tuner

It might stop some confusion from users with a duff second cable connection or using a single cable and leaving out or using a faulty loop cable.

Good idea, having a single thread, Sadbiker.

Is copying the 2 downloads the ONLY way we will get the upgrade?

If it is then can you tell us the 2 file sizes, please.

& does the USB stick need Linux formatting, or normal Windows OK ?

I was expecting an OTAir auto download. Mainly 'cos not every HDR owner reads this forum.

Now that's a good idea, will be very interesting to see what happens as I have not seen single cable updating mentioned as a feature (only diseqc mods). Logic would suppose that it has all the existing features of 7.52 though

I was hoping that they might have added an 'undocumented' ability to record more than 2 channels at once (as has been hinted at in the past), alas not this time.

Has anyone noticed if they've managed to speed up the boot time?

Not a big deal but it would be nice if they managed to shave off a few seconds.

Although, as I suspect it's the underlying Unix boot that's taking the time, I'm not hopeful.

I am not sure but I think the initial boot was more or less the same - but subsequent boots today have been very quick. Was that how it was before? I normally only turn it on once or twice a day!

Navigating The EPG is MUCH faster.

Maybe this is what to expect? Its not listening.

Starting Nmap 4.62 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-11-10 16:06 GMT
All 1715 scanned ports on 10.0.0.102 are closed

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.885 seconds

Just update ota I was at loader 7.51 but have 2 feeds, all seems OK
.
Noticed that it still insists that it updates the guide every time you press the button to bring up the guide.

Navigation still seems a bit slow while the guide is updating.

Any way to stop it displaying all the empty folders in the media list.

Anybody had a chance to test the "RGB output available via the TV Scart connection on HD content (Live TV and Recordings)" fix ?

I guess this will very much depend on the type/size of TV, but does BBC HD look much different via RGB SCART than HDMI now....

I wonder if Humax will implement this feature on the forthcoming Freeview + HD boxes also...

To get an instant epg (using the buffered version) press schedule and then Red.

Series generated folders can't now be empty as they get deleted when you delete the last file in the folder.

Does that only apply to folders created after this update. I have several empty folders from before the update. I have just been deleting them manually.

Yes I understand how to get the Guide up through Schedule. I just thought they might have fixed the original issue by maybe updating it when the Guide was not being displayed. Cheers

Yes, delete any folders created before the update, and when the SL recording recreates them, deleting the last file then removes the folder also.

Rgds.

Looks like they've tidied up the folder delete function as the empty folders no longer end up in the radio media section.
