How to Upgrade Using USB Stick
Format your USB Stick to fat32...........
go to -->>> LINK Then Pick FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade_10011.hdf ---- Download this... Transfer it to your USB Stick and rename it to : FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf then go to your humax box - stick it into standby - Insert the USB stick (FRONT USB SLOT) - and Hold Standby for about 20 seconds until it shows updating. -------------------------------- Repeat same with the other file FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade_U7_53.HDF You should have latest firmware and latest boot loader. |

No great improvements, still can't transfer folders into other folders and no chase record.
Only improvement I can see is the ability to Delete while recording. |

What about being able to play encrypted from USB. That's a massive improvement for those with the original 320Gb HDD
![]() ![]() But you're right, I've just been playing back a BBC HD recording from my USB Drive; no jitter or lipsyncing problems, perfect playback. So, no more tedious copying back to the HDR to play - hooray !!! Rgds. Les. |

Does it matter which upgrade is performed first? (i.e. Loader or application)?
Edit: Answer my own question... "Note: If updating the Loader and Application software you will need to carry out 2 downloads in any order." Source: http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/suppo...ategory_seq=65 |

Make sure you only do one at a time and rename both of them to “FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf otherwise it dont work.

OK i need help. I have tried to update my HDR several times, but it never works. I have followed everything step by step, and made sure I did everything perfectly but everytime, nothing happens.
I connect the USB drive and hold the power button, but nothing, then after 30 seconds when i let go, the device just loads as normal. Anyone know what i could be doing wrong? EDIT: Never mind, I tried a different USB stick and it seems to be working fine with that one. |

Have you a file called FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf in the root folder of the usb drive The hdr has to be in sby when you put in the usb stick with the TV on and correct input selected to view the hdr output. Press and hold the front on button until the upgrade screen appears |

Definitely some funnies in how/if the HDR will recognise USB sticks.
Tried a 128MB stick in Fat format - it definitely sees the stick and for instance can create a folder on it in file manager - but won't spot an update on it. Following prompt here about Fat32 I reformatted it into Fat32 and tried again and still not spotting an update on it. Am using the correct filename AND holding down the button for the 30seconds (incidentally the red LED on the remote goes off at the 30s stage = great timer!). So stuck for now with DIY. Guess I'll have to wait for further prompts here as how to get it to behave or else wait for Auto to kick in! MKD |

Just a quick note....you are holding the stand-by button on the HDR for 30 sec and not the one on the remote ?.

So a 128MB and Fat32 format USB stick worked for me. (BTW: The LED on the USB stick itself never lit up in the HDR, the way it does on my PC.) For my failure to follow instructions the first time, I blame Humax's very careful statement step 4: "4. Place the product into standby mode (using the STANDBY button on the remote control or the STANDBY button on the front of the product) " which lulled me into believing either button would work throughout (which was further reinforced by the 30 second red light out on the remote when I did the wrong button in step 6!). and THEN of course I speed read through Step 6 "6. Press and hold the STANDBY button on the front of the product." which I think to be consistent with step 4 should read: "6. Press and hold the STANDBY button on the front of the product (ie NOT the STANDBY button on the remote control)." To help others with a quircky behaviour: I noticed the programming progress bar of the full software update went from 0 to 100% not the ONCE that a logical person would expect, but around half a dozen times or so! I was careful to look for the "Success Downloading" message (ie uploading) and the "END" appearing on the HDR panel before powering off with the switch on the back. Moral: Always best to PRINT the instructions and read through them sentence by sentence in front of the HDR rather than digest them on screen and then head off to the HDR. Thanks for your help SkipTracer! MKD |

If it is any consolation I did exactly the same thing. Tried 2 USB sticks even a factory reset. One of the reasons I used the remote is because I didn't realise there was a standby button on the front! I'd always looked at the silver button and assumed it was a magnetic catch or something. |
