Ipod fails with red cross screen - dead?

Looks like it according to Google - 2 year old 160gb Ipod, just suddenly stopped playing, couldn't play any more music, when I rebooted it came up with a red cross and the address of the ipod support page. Dead hard drive seems to be the consensus - anyone know anything different? I haven't had the chance to take it home to resync it yet, but it doesn't look good.....

Yep. Took it home. Seen livelier dinosaurs. Sigh.

Awww, sorry. At least it's a good chance for a shopping trip

if you have an apple retail store nearby you can take it with you and use it to get 10% off a new iPod.

Wow. Better off sticking it on eBay for spares or repair; generally get more that way.
