I'd go to http://www.humaxdigital.com/global/s...ategory_seq=65 and download the firmware to a USB, full instructions are provided on the site.

I've never had a reply to an email from Humax, they were good on the phone but I'm guessing they will be getting quite a few calls at the moment, hence I'd go the USB route first.

You've got the firmware update. The Loader you've got is 7.52. It has been updated to 7.53 on the website but you don't need it unless you're a Disecq user.

Thanks for the reply Les I do use a disecq switch but iam totally lost over usb loading I used to have a fortec hd box and they would only use usb for upgrades and if you made a mess of the download they would not even repair the damage so i never used it and i sold the box. Now here we go again with usb downloads

OK, but if you want it, you'll have to do it via USB.

The reason it's not available OTA, is that if the download via satellite is interrupted, it can brick your box. So I can understand why they don't make it available OTA.

Many of us have updated it via USB. It is a tiny file, and updates incredibly quickly, it's over before you realise, unlike the firmware which is a much longer update.

The usb update is quite easy and nothing to worry about unlesss you have big issues with yours mains dropping..

Simply download the updated loader, rename it as per it states in the instructions online, copy it to a USB stick, make sure the HDR is in standby and plug it in.
Press and hold the standy button and you should get a upgrade in progress bar if it finds the file on the USB stick, If it doesn't then it can't upgrade and will not cause a problem.

I tried many times to perform the upgrade via USB but I never see the progress screen. It just remains at the initial Humax screen and I have to power the HDR off to get it back. I'm using a 1GB USB stick with the upgrade file FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf the only file at the root level. I freshly formatted the stick in FAT32 but not luck and tried with both files - the 1.00.11 f/w upgrade and the 7.53 loader upgrade file with the same result.

Cheers

Unfortunately, it looks like you will need to try different usb sticks until you find one that will work.

The F/W (not Loader) is available OTA at the moment, so you can get it by going into the setup menu, software update, automatic update.

Thanks Les - I had tried before many times to do the update OTA but I only have a mono LNB setup and therefore this never worked. Regardless, I just tried again but the HDR tells me there is no new s/w available. I'm currently on f/w 1.00.03 and loader 7.51.

If you can't get a usb stick to work, you can do it manually with an LNB switch, as per Graham's instructions, here.

You can, theoretically, do it without the switch, by swapping cable from lnb1 in to lnb2 in at the appropriate time, but that is not recommended as voltages pass through the cables (to switch polarity) and you could brick your box if you short them.

Didn't version 1.00.03 fix the single cable 7.51 loader problem?

Hmmm... I think it was Loader 7.52 that did that, but I'd have to go searching.

I think 1.00.03 allowed them to do a combined HD/HDR update OTA.

Post here from Bob_Cat.

Although he says 7.21, I think he means 7.51, and the next post from a single-cabler asks when 7.52 will be available.

Nop loader 7.52 fixed the not upgrading on one cable and of course upgrading 7.51 to7.53 also allows a single cable connection to use OTA upgrades

There's a post from bob_cat somewhere confirming that 7.52 simply adds single cable OTA updating. Pretty sure it's only fixable with the later loader

I was thinking that mw46874 should be able to 'technically' do a OTA download for the firmware update regardless of having only one cable and was wondering whether a factory reset may help or whether his dish is slightly out of alignment.

Edit clearly not as pointed out above would have edited sooner but it failed to appear DS error again

So that which I quoted above from the humax site is it just incorrected or are they referring to something else?

I wonder if it relates to the very short time that 1.00.03 (or was it 1.00.02?) & 7.52 were on the website, but quickly pulled due to problems found? Maybe they left that text on after pulling it?

You're right. I am on 1.00.02 not 03; sorry for the confusion.

Cheers
