Was watching one of those tv behind the scenes gossip programmes yesterday and there was a piece on it about Dermot. It said that after his back talk to Louis and his general attitude on stage, getting a bit above himself in his role as presenter, that his future position on the show was being thought hard about. Louis in particular is apparently genuinly fuming with him. Anyone else know anything about this.

I know nothing except for the fact that Dermot appears to be trying to turn it into his show. Lots of histrionics, Davina style gurning and general cockiness.

Not sure Kate Thornton was all that, but Dermot is a switch off.

Kate Thornton has a face like a kitten being pushed into the skin of a tambourine, but not as interesting on camera as that image may suggest.

Dermot kind of reminds me like a shaved Ewok on steroids who was looking for the casting couch for reservoir dogs, took a wrong turn, and someone put a microphone in his hand and pushed him on stage with five seconds to go before the show starts. I don't care much for his presenting style at all. It's very much akin to a belligerent Surrey farmer kicking off in the Post Office.

I never get the hatred towards Dermot on here. It seems like everyone thinks Ant and Dec are excellent presenters and they're the only ones that are allowed to be

I really like Dermot and think he does his job well.

Dermot should have stayed with Little Brother. He is out of his depth on X Factor. Introducing the contestants as "housemates" and not even apologizing for his mistake is not professional at all. Chuck him out!!

Me too. Ant and dec are terrible presenters on anything other than IACGMOH, I like the way makes it a wee bit edgy.

Isn't there enough ass sucking going on between the judges without making it a complete fawning nightmare. I love Dermot and why shouldn't someone talk back to Louis, he isn't God.

Can you name the programme this was on as I find it strange that something like this should be discussed on telly rather than private if it had any substance?

And the contestants are housemates, they all live together.

Well Simon seemed to be sticking up for Dermot on XFactor and Xtra Factor. Louis said after he and Dermot are good friends. I would say it's more people making up their own ideas.

I suspect the clue's in the emboldened bit.

I prefer Louis to Dermot, but the former was in the wrong last weekend. Even though I'm not overly keen on Dermot, I think he suits the show and helps pull in some viewers. I can't see the show lasting much longer in its present form so maybe getting rid of him won't be a choice they have to make.

The only way simon will now get rid of dermot is if he could get And and Dec to present the X factor and it's never going to happen because they present BGT, their isn't really that many decent presenters around atm who could replace him anyway, i actually thought Louis was out of order, Dermot was only giving an opinion that most people at home were thinking anyway, louis was wrong saying he hasn't heard of the movie etc if the song is in a movie then it's ok to sing that is all dermot was saying, louis overreacted because all the other judges have been telling him the same thing for the last few weeks - maybe he is feeling the pressure because he only has J&E left and now with them being in the bottom 2 it shows their popularity is dropping.

The only person who has a safe job on X-Factor is Simon Cowell. The others are all walking a tightrope even Louis, he has been sacked before and he could be again.

I hope not I do like him on the show. I don't think he is out of his depth at all.

I agree with this.

I 've never been a huge fan of his, but it does seem that he is trying to do more than his job entails.

After Joe sang, Louis said in his opinion he didn't think Joe was a rounded pop star. Dermot said to Louis he's sang songs from Elton John to Journey, what more can he do to prove he is an all rounded pop star. Louis spat the dummy and told Dermot he's a presenter not a judge and should basically stick to what he knows.

Sunday night, Dermot was a little subdued as if he'd received a smack on the wrist for daring to voice his opinion.

It's been 3 years.

It could be time for a new X Factor host.

I fancy Dermot and I'm in two minds whether I'd rate him as a presenter. Having said that, I think this is about the best level he's going to get. I couldn't see him presenting, anything a bit more 'refined.' I'm indifferent to him but can't stand Holly bloody Willoughby - she's loud mouthed and her best friendship with Fearne Cotton says it all. Who on earth ever thought these two make good presenters? They are robots: flat, boring and dull. The only thing that doesn't fall flat with Willoughby is her bust.

What is it about presenters and FM`s on this site.....Davina/Brucie/Holly/Graham Norton and now Dermot all get a pasting from forum members.....Presenting a live TV show is not an easy gig and it`s a lot harder than it looks....There are only a select few that can do it well...and Dermot is one of them...He can think on his feet and nothing seems to throw him....As the Americans say "if it ain`t broke why fix it"....Dermot is a level headed and slick presenter.....Cowell knows this so Dermot job is safe.If Cowell wants to make changes....Then he should think about ditching Danni and Cheryl and look for mentors who have an opinion and can make constructive criticism

I'm bored of Dermot now, I say it's about time they drafted Vernon Kay in.
