BBC HD archiving - technical question

One for Bob-Cat probably!
In Freesat mode the Humax encrypts BBC HD programmes on disk to prevent playing or copying HD material to another medium. There are references in several postings to "copy protection" flags in the broadcast material which trigger the Humax to encrypt the data. I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to find where these copy flags are described in the MPEG data standard. Can anyone point me at the location of these flags in the transmitted data - ie what stream type / PID are they held in?

The specification of Freesat is confidential and I cannot give details of that nature. However I can say they are not described in the MPEG data standard.

It's probably transmitted as part of the information for the EPG . This is how you can record BBC HD in non-freesat mode without the encryption.

Do you mean the Freesat EPG stream? I had a look at the standard EPG data (now and next) transmitted in the transponder multiplex with BBC HD and didn't see anything obvious.

Ok - that's fair enough Bob_Cat. If it's proprietary info I understand.

There are clues here and here.

Thanks for the links, but it's not the internal Humax file formats that are of interest to me specifically (but I am keeping an eye on progress here anyway as I will want to transfer over some HD files from PC to the Hummy at a future date). I'm following an issue where some broadcasters seem to be setting flags in the broadcast stream which are causing issues for DVD recording, for example. It's just that there doesn't seem to be a published standard for this in DVB-S or DVB-T as used in Europe - looks like proprietary arrangements are in place.

Ah, right. I was hoping these might help, but obviously you are further ahead than me. So yes, it's got to be somewhere in the metadata, surely? What's left otherwise?
