Prefer the breasts and legs myself (chicken ones, of course )

My favourite restaurants in Florida are Freindly's, Denny's, and Bob Evans. There's a lot of nice, good value for money independent eat as much as you like places as well. Mmmmm.

There are some amazing food outlets in Florida and all over the US. A few of my favourites and must visits whenever I am stateside are;

Denny's- Great anytime, but especially at breakfast. You have to try the grand slam breakfast, typically American and 100% healthy of course

IHOP- Another great one for breakfast, the house of pancakes also serve up some wicked French Toast and the meals are filling, order extra bacon though.

Olive Garden- I echo everyone else on the board, for good Italian cuisine find your nearest Olive Garden, filling meals and varied menu.

ChuckECheese- Not really for the adults but great if you're visiting with kids. The cinnamon sticks are enough to get me back there anytime.

Charlies Steakhouse- Another cheap and cheerful food fest, good portions and tasty stuff.

Not forgetting the fast food joints America is famous for; McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell and Subway all great for snacks but some differences to the UK, KFC comes with biscuits (scones) rather than fries but they do sell an amazing chicken pie and Taco Bell sell some great... well tacos.

If there is a Whataburger there, get a A1 Thick and Hearty burger. They're amazing.

Cici's pizza!!!

I love it, way, way better than crappy Pizza hut!!!

And Denny's is cool. Nice drinks and food.

And getting free drink refills is cool too.

I can now add the Cheesecake Factory to the list! Huge menu and something for everyone. If you like cheesecake you'll die and go straight to heaven! It's not all about cheesecake though, that's just their speciality for pud!

Edit; *Acknowledges that "Player1" mentioned it earlier!*

Hi, all you Brits! I'm a Yank right here in Orlando. If you are in the mood for a fantastic steak, you have 2 choices near Disney. Head up the I-4 highway a few exits to International Drive and hit up either Capital Grille or Vito's. Neither are cheap, but not extravagant, either. Both offer incredible steaks.

Enjoy!

I had a superb steak at the Capital Grille in Naples, among the top 3 i've ever eaten. It is a special occasion place though as it'll hurt your wallet, especially if you have a bottle of wine and a few sides!!

I guess this, just about, qualifies as a chain (albeit in a limited area):

http://www.maxsworld.com/

Really good quality, well prepared and presented American home-cooked style food in pleasant surroundings and not too expensive.

Love the place(s).

lets face it, we need to have a lot more American chain restaurants over here!!!!

I wish we had Perkins!! They are excellent for breakfasts!! I love American breakfasts and I love the fact that restaurants, particularly at breakfast time, serve bottomless pots of coffee!!! Its about time that restaurants over here did the same type of service!!! This country really hasnt a clue about REAL customer service!!!!

I wish we had Applebees!! To me they are far better than TGI Fridays!!

I wish we had Famous Daves!! They do excellent barbecue & grills!!

I wish we had REAL authentic Mexican Restaurants over here!! The ones we do have over here are crap!! They wouldnt know what REAL Mexican food was even if it was slapped up their asses!!!! All they serve here is "shit with chilli"!!!

I really wish we had Olive Garden over here!! They do the BEST Italian food!! In fact, when a chef applies for a job at Olive Garden he/she is sent on a months course to Italy so as to learn how to cook REAL Italian food!!! ALL chefs in ALL branches of OG have been sent to Italy at the firms expense!!!!

I wish we had Buffalo Wild Wings over here!!! Brilliant food!!! Also, its a fantastic sports bar too!!

I really wish we had Dairy Queen over here, then I would know where to go in the summer for GOOD ice cream and sundaes, even on a Sunday evening!!!! I love their Peanut Buster Parfait!!!

I wish we had Red Lobster over here!!!

I wish we had Ruby Tuesdays

I wish we had Champs

I wish we had Outback Steakhouse

I could go on and on!!!!!!!

Add me to the fans of The Olive Garden. Also Bob Evans isn't too bad for a cheap and cheerful.

I used to like both Sizzlers and Ponderosa but they've gone off the boil last time I went.

Wow, you Brits must be really hard-up for restaurants if you want "Dead Lobster" brought over.

I love me some "Famous Dave's" BBQ though

Have just got back and can highly recommend:-

Chili's (especially the '2 eat for $20 deal'
Ale House (amazingly cheap drinks, $5 for a pitcher of beer!)
Texas De Brazil (expensive but amazing food)
Tony Roma's (fantastic ribs, couldn't fault it)
Red Lobster (had Lobster, Shrimp and Scallops for $25!)

I suspect that most of these restaurants branches in the U.K. would be overpriced tat like Frankie & Benny's though.

Think a main course used to be similar priced to UK establishments to be honest.

Chili's in Reading used to be good - can't believe it's closed!!!

Agree with other posters who mentioned The Cheesecake Factory. www.thecheesecakefactory.com says they have 14 restaurants in Florida. I've been to the ones in San Francisco and LA. They seem to be very busy, very large restaurants usually located in shopping malls/areas. There is often a long queue to eat, but when you arrive they will give you a pager and they will page you when your table is ready. We tried to eat there once in LA, but there was an estimated hour wait to get a pager... and then a 30 minute wait for a table once we had the pager!! Once you've got a pager though, you can go off for a walk around the shops... or just sit at the bar if you prefer.

Don't let the name put you off - strangely enough, i've never managed to get as far as the cheesecake because of the portion sizes they give you for the starters and mains!

I would also recommend Fogo De Chao (www.fogodechao.com) which is a chain of Brazilian steakhouses. There's one in Miami according to their website. Again, the one we visited in LA (Beverly Hills) was a very large, very busy restaurant, and again make sure you're hungry!! You pay a set price for as much as you can eat. You get your plate, and stock up with salad/veggies at a huge self service salad bar. Then you sit at your table, and there are lots of servers walking around with huge kebabs, and chunks of freshly cooked meat on skewers. On your table, everybody has a coaster which you turn over to the "yes please" side if you want meat. The staff then stop by your table every few minutes and carve off as much meat as you could ever want! Once you've finished, remember to turn the coaster over to "no thanks" of course!
