Thanks singingcanadian.

I'm surprised the SCDband haven't tweeted about it - they're always plugging her album lol

I won't be able to see it in the morning so if anyone wants to do a quick summary or youtube it i'd be very grateful

They did, and Hayley posted on her FB fangroup.

Actually I think SCDband might have been a bit late with "their" tweet but still worth following.

It was pretty good - mostly promoting her cd and I liked the track they played.

Rik Wakeman wrote (or co-wrote) Life On Mars (David Bowie) and he has produced a version for Hayley without the several musical layers on it.

She couldn't go into the music choices for Saturday (rules ) but gave us a bit of insight generally as to when they are given the songs and how they can be changed at any time according to the pro dancers' take on them.

I'd say it's a very unique experience taking part in Strictly, and one that would stay with you forever.

It's so nice to have a presenter on there who's genuinely interested and knows all the nuts and bolts so to speak.

On Hayley, she does have a nice voice as heard on the clip of Ali's VW. Who on earth was the screecher for poor Ali's waltz the first week? If it's the the same I'll go all Richard Wilson!

The story with the Hunky Dory album, which included Life On Mars, is that Bowie invited Rick around to see him and played him the whole album on guitar. He wanted the album to be piano led and asked Rick to rearrange the pieces for piano, and of course he played piano on the album. So Rick wouldn't really be considered to have written or co-written Life On Mars, but he certainly had a significant involvement in how it turned out.

Hayley's website has a video of her and Rick recording the song. Interesting understated version.
