Had a timer set up to turn on the hdr at 08:30 and off again at 08:35. Set a recording for 09:15. At about 08:00 turned the hdr to sby and turned off the rear power button for 5 mins and then turned the power back on.

Recording is now safely under way.

Thanks for the original idea. No need to buy that ups now for my next holiday

Graham,

Excellent work !!

Now, when you go on holiday, make sure the remote has fresh batteries in it, you don't want its power cutting out

Rgds.

Instead of getting the neighbours to check the power supply he'll have them checking the batteries are still working..

Maybe we should all buy these remotes and send the invoices off to Humax.

Still no reply from Humax support (anyone got CEO contact details?). If there was another decent box out there (around £300) then it would be bye bye Humax.

Had a power cut today - if i'd have got back 10 minutes later I would have missed a recording!

Given up with Humax tech support (via e-mail) - 3 e-mails (all from different domains/ISP's as it was suggested Humax block some of them).

Incidentally - posted a review on the Humax website (http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product...at=stb#reviews) where I complain about the power cut bug. I didn't think they were going to allow it but after a few days it appeared.

Bob_Cat - Are there discreet 'On' and 'Off' codes that you are able to give us in case we have/can find a suitable programmable remote?
There aren't discreet codes but there is a useful workaround. If you send 0 from the remote, that will wake the box but conversely if it's already on, the 0 appears onscreen briefly then disappears without affecting anything.

If you thereby programmed 0 followed by Power Toggle about a minute later, you'll always reset the box to an off state with a refreshed brain after a power cut.

I use overkill and send 3 zeros for the on and 5 min later send the power toggle.

Still had no reply from Humax UK Support (via e-mail) however I noted that there was a Humax UK facebook page which appears to give all the latest info from the technical team (they are currently discussing issues with the 9200T OTA upgrades).

Anyway I though I'd write on their wall about the HDR power cut bug asking when it will be fixed. Less than a day later I have this reply:

"Hi Richard. We've requested this from the development team, but we're not able to confirm that it will be implemented at the moment."

So the development team are fully aware of it (as I think Bob_Cat has eluded to many months ago) but I am disappointed that they do not see this as an essential bug fix
