Which 'fix' has made the most difference to you?

I know a lot of people will find the ability to delete whilst recording a big improvement.

But apart from that, which fix has done most to make the machine more pleasant to use?

In my case it is something that I'd never really thought of as a problem, namely the placing of programmes recorded as a result of series link in folders.

As the things I have series linked are mainly documentaries that I watch fairly quickly after they are recorded this meant that I always had a big list of mainly empty folders at the top of the media list.

Now they all vanish when empty which has made for a surprising improvement in usability.

Which fix has improved things most for you?

In order of benefit to me :-

1. Delete whilst recording
2. Auto Folder Removal
3. Accessing Guide in Playback or TS
4. HD Playback from external drive

Probably also no deletion of ITV HD schedules on rescan, but can't tell yet

Rgds.

1). Delete whilst recording
2) Auto delete of folders

..and probably when I get a chance to try it.. RGB output of HD.

As a person with a 1Tb upgraded machine, the only feature that is useful is the New symbol besides the folder with unwatched programmes inside.
Delete while recording isn't an issue, Autodelete - not needed.
Never seen the sub-title problems.
A lot of the fixes are for first setup problems, which I never had.
ITV HD just isn't worth it, for such a poor improvement in PQ, especially as last time I watched, a glitch in the transmission meant I had to do a Factory reset.
iPlayer is going to be an interesting little diversion, which I don't see as particularly useful, the Beeb usually has a repeat of whatever you've missed coming along with the month anyway.
There are a few extras I could have done with. Easier Non/Freesat switching, easier access file management, retention of programming after a power cut, time shifting that doesn't cut off the end of the program etc etc.

I dare not say cause savvy will only comeback and say you could do it before the update..

I was watching a recording last night and wanted to check my recording schedule so just pressed pause and then schedule, the recording stayed in the background. I checked the media while I was at it delving into folders etc. and then for the fun of it restarted the recording playback and checked the schedule and media again. Is that ok savvy did I do good??

Brilliantly !!!

I know pressing Guide before caused the playback or timeshift to unpause, probably Schedule and/or Media did the same, so good spot, and very useful.

Yes, that's a good one.

I didn't suffer from it often but it was a pain when I did. Nice to know it's fixed.

Subtitle bug and that's it really.
Delete is only half fixed IMO as you still have to wait before you can delete anythng else.
Still no record option in chase play.
Bit crap really glad I kept my 9200.

People do seem to have an aversion to using File Manager.

Also, if you are catching up with 2 or 3 recordings from a series and want to then delete them, delete the folder instead, it will delete all the files in one go, too.

With the new folder removal function, I'm finding that I delete as I watch (not literally), which cleans up my series folders. Then every now & again I clean up my wifes one off/manual recordings from the root in one go using File Manager.

Rgds.

I hope you remember to ask her first.. or you might be in trouble

....I agree though with your comments, in practice, the new functionality means that far fewer trips to the dreaded multiple edit screen will be needed.

I mostly delete immediately after I watch too.

1). Delete whilst recording
2) Auto delete of folders

I watch and delete virtually everything in 24h so the folders were a real pain. These 2 things should have never been wrong in the 1st place but Im glad they fixed them, as well as unpausing when you go into the guide.

Oh, believe me, I've been caught out already, even in this short time :-

Mrs - "What do you mean, you deleted them?"
Me - "You'd watched them, I could tell, because there were no New icons next to them" (Smug grin)
Mrs - "I might have wanted to watch some bits again"
Me -

Sorry for going off-topic.

Also, it's quite possible to watch part of something and then leave the rest for another day.

I've just double pressed the i button on Are you an egg head? BBC 2 and the info screen shows

Quote:
“ 102 BBC 2 England HD 108 BBC hd
Are you an egg head?
THU 12 NOV 16:30~17:15 HD THU 12 NOV 18:15~19:00”

so it looks like the box can now analise epg data more effectively

I wonder if that works on all BBC HD programmes.

The times I have watched something in SD then found out its in HD a week later.

Heheh,

Actually, GC, I'm not as sure of myself on this one. I'm pretty sure I've seen the alternate HD instance on Info before, but I can't swear to it. So, unless anyone else can support me, I'll cave in quickly on this one

Anyone?

Edit: Just seen Graham's post - good man.
There's life in the old dog yet !!

Hi the great thing for me is the ability to play back hd recordings stored on my external drive via usb
previously the picture used to break up and it was impossible to watch
So you had to move the recording back onto the internal drive to watch
This has saved me so much time already and space on my internal drive
